"I got an immediate feedback from them, so that was good. They were very personable and friendly, and explained everything. They walked around and answered questions. They gave me an estimate and it was right in with what I thought about it. We communicated about when it was getting done because he had to order the materials but required a down payment before doing the materials and everything. The work was done three weeks or so after our first conversation, after I got back with them to let them know that I wanted to have the work done, and the down payment. Then I think it was about three to three and a half weeks after that when the work was actually done. So, it was done kind of quickly. The only thing is that, one section of the leak protector was not what I had ordered. It was not what I had picked out, and I wasn’t informed that a different piece was being put in. It was just put up there, and after looking at all of the work that was done, I noted that one piece was different and kind of stood out. I thought that, normally when people own a company or have a business like that and they send other people out to do the work, they would come back and inspect it. He hadn’t done that, because when I called about a week or so later, and he was unaware of that, so I guess he didn’t come out and take a look at it. I was kind of waiting to hear from him but I didn’t hear from him till I called. Two guys came by for the power washing, and I had no idea they were coming that day. They just came and started washing my house, and that was a surprise. They didn’t finish the work. They only did a little bit and told me that they would be back to finish but I never heard from them again. I called, and apparently GF Siding wasn’t aware of that because the guys had told him that they had finished the work. They had told that it was all done; not just my house but a few other houses. Those guys wound up getting fired and the person who was in charge there came over a while later and wound up washing the house. Aside from that, there was nothing too bad, but it was just that I was a little upset about that. He was real nice and friendly and everything, but I was just a little bit upset about the work not being done and not being informed that something else was being put on my house. I really don’t have anything to compare the pricing to and I don’t know what other people charge for work like that."
Does the water in your taps sometimes come out very slowly? If so, you might have problems with low water pressure in your house, and your pressure washer won’t effectively clean. To test if your water pressure is sufficient, time how long it takes for the water from your hose to fill a 5-gallon bucket. Usually, if it takes less than two minutes, you’re good to go.
We don’t recommend pressuring washing clapboard siding. At high levels of pressure, a pressure washer can damage wood siding permanently. Pressure washing can also make it easier to drive water into the cracks of clapboard (which are recommended for easier drainage), causing moisture damage.
If you think your clapboard siding is so dirty it could benefit from pressure washing, we suggest contacting a pressure wash cleaning service and getting a quote on a wood siding project. Some siding manufacturers recommend never pressure washing because it can force water behind the siding.
This answer is a bit tricky because experts say both. You should apply your cleaning solution from bottom to top, but rinse from top to bottom to avoid streaking. When it comes to multi-story houses, you’ll want to start at the top floor and work your way down, but follow the above instructions for each level as if it were an independent structure, rather than washing the whole house as one unit.
Whether or not you can use a pressure washer to clean your gutter guards depends on the type of gutter guard you have and the strength of the pressure washer. Most gutter guards can handle a low-pressure setting but check first. If you’re unsure if your gutter guard is designed for pressure washing, check your manufacturer’s instructions, ask a pro, or use a garden hose to clean the gutter guard instead. As gutter guards age, they become less resistant to the strong forces of a power washer, so treat older gutter guards with more care.
It is generally not recommended to use dish soap in a pressure washer. Dishwashing liquid is formulated for cooler water, and the warmer water used in a pressure washer can create excessive suds, potentially damaging the machine's tubing and other components. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions for recommended detergents. If you find yourself in a pinch, you can try a highly diluted solution, such as one tablespoon of dish soap per 1.5 quarts of water, to avoid clogging the machine.
