Customers say: True professional

"Tony is a great guy and very meticulous. He did a full walk in shower and pan in ceramic tile including floor. We also had him do our kitchen backsplash. Been tiling 30 years, and knows what he’s doing. I would highly recommend."

"He called me within 10 minutes of the request, was at my house 2 hours later, and worked in both my entire first floor and 2 upstairs bathrooms over a 2 week period. His attention to detail and professionalism is second to none. I will be hiring him again for some backsplash work in the kitchen. He does excellent laminate and tiling work."

"We went to Lumber Liquidators thinking originally we would purchase flooring from them and install it ourselves.  We asked about installation and got their name, KDS Flooring from the people there.  We called them to do an estimate and they came within just a couple days.  Then they gave us an estimate that we felt was very reasonable.  So reasonable that while I have done a lot of work myself, bathroom remodels, kitchen remodel as well as windows and doors. We decided to have KDS do the work.
The day they arrived to do the work they arrived on time and in uniform(KDS t-shirts).  My wife feels uncomfortable around a lot of people she doesn't know.  But these workers were friendly and clean and professional, they really put her at ease.  And they got to work right away, before the boss came later.  They really seemed to be a hardworking group of guys, all 3 of them.  They finished the job and it looks fantastic.  I know that while I am an accomplished do it yourselfer, I could not have done nearly as good of a job as these guys from KDS did for me.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tile will almost always last longer than laminate flooring, regardless of the type of tile installed. Porcelain tile can last for 75 years or more with proper care, and even less durable ceramic tile will last for 60 years or more, provided they’re installed by a tile professional. On the other hand, laminate flooring has an average lifespan of around 20 years, and you might only get 10 to 15 years out of low-cost laminate flooring. As such, tile will add far more value to your home than laminate.

No, you don’t need to remove the old grout before installing new tile over existing tile. In fact, the old grout helps fill in gaps between tiles, creating a more even surface for the new layer. However, it's important to ensure that the grout is clean, solid, and free of cracks or crumbling areas. Damaged grout should be repaired or replaced before proceeding. Cleaning the surface thoroughly and filling any low spots will help the new adhesive bond properly and ensure a smooth, stable installation.

Tile removal costs about $2 to $7 per square foot unless you do it yourself. When you hire a pro, tile installation costs $5 to $45 per square foot. Costs vary widely, but they depend on the tile material (custom-made stone tiles cost significantly more than plain ceramic tile), location, and tile size.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.
