Homeowners may choose chalk paint over regular paint if they want to hide all of the wood’s grain, don’t want to apply a large number of coats, and like the extreme matte appearance. Chalk paint is easier to work with than regular paint and adds a unique texture to furniture that regular paint just can’t match.

A sprayer can get those hard-to-reach places much easier than cutting in with a brush or trying to roll the paint. However, a paint roller will also work if you’ve got a flat garage door or if you don’t have access to a sprayer.

The first thing is to consider the main color of your home and determine which colors will complement it. You should place paint samples on your siding and look at them at different times of the day so you can see the way the sun (and shade) affect how they appear. Also note that lighter colors will make your windows look larger, while the opposite is true for darker colors.

You don’t have to sand between primer coats. However, if you’d like, you may lightly sand your last coat to ensure a smooth surface before you apply the paint color.
