"I had Tristan come out to do some mulching around my newly planted trees and bushes and it turned out so good! He was in and out in a very timely manner and did very good work! He had even spent some extra time discussing some ideas for some other projects id like to get done. Very happy with the results and will definitely have them out again!!"

"The project was repairing a drain pipe between two ponds that had been blocked for years. The solution wasn’t obvious so the approach needed multiple options. A study and review of the site and situation revealed some settling in the asphalt driveway covering the 3” PVC drain pipe. Robert brought a concrete saw to the site so he cut a one foot square in the asphalt and excavated about a foot down exposing the pipe. At this point he could see the pipe had an old splice in it that hadn't been attached so soil washed out over time and blocked the pipe. Robert was prepared for this and had brought necessary parts to make a permanent repair. A garden hose was used to remove the old debris from the line and soil replaced into the hole and a cold patch applied to repair the asphalt. Robert did an excellent job and obviously has a heart to solve customers problems and enjoys what he does. I would recommend you at least contact him no matter the problem and see what he thinks."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Pavers are one of the most affordable methods of creating an elevated outdoor space. Gravel is an equally affordable alternative. If your budget permits, you can look into building a permeable driveway to ensure proper drainage. Grid pavers, pervious concrete, brick, and brick pavement are all effective materials. Permeable driveways are great options, especially if you live in an area with heavy rainstorms.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.

The best type of rock for landscaping depends on your specific project and needs, as different rocks are suited for different applications. For covering large areas or creating an affordable driveway, consider gravel, but note that it can wash away in flowing water. For water features, river rocks are a good option. Flagstone and cobblestone are ideal for aesthetically pleasing patios and walkways. If you are building a stone wall, fieldstone or small boulders are up to the task. Large boulders and landscape rocks work well as statement pieces, to fill empty space, or to indicate boundaries, but be mindful that they can overwhelm smaller gardens. The best approach is to first define your landscaping project and then select the rock type that best fits that purpose.

Common features in lakefront landscaping projects include native and water-tolerant plants, stone paths, docks or piers, seating areas, and erosion control solutions to create a harmonious integration with the waterfront setting.

It is possible to plant a tree over a ground stump if it was ground very deeply. However, it is typically best to plant elsewhere so your new tree has room to establish a strong, healthy root system. If you want to plant a tree in the same spot where you currently have a stump, you may want to consider other options, such as stump removal.
