"I noticed my garage door was askew as it lifted, turned out a lifting cable had jumped the turn wheel. The J.D Griffith repairman was friendly, professional and efficient. He fixed the problem without needing any new parts. The work was successfully finished in under half an hour and the garage door has worked great ever since."

"Totally satisfied! I was contacted in the morning , a gentleman came and gave me a fair quote and an hour later the crew showed up to work. I got a notice That the tree needed to be completely trimmed away from alley, street and sidewalk. There was much more to trimming that tree than expected. But they continued working to get it right. This service was great. They made sure I was completely satisfied with the job. Besides trimming my tree , they removed the yard waste that was piled up in the garage in bags. Very fair price and efficiency was top notch. Hard workers ! They all worked like a well oiled machine! They are coming back next weekend for another project. I highly recommend this service."

"Scott was extremely helpful and patient as we worked with the insurance company to come to an agreed amount to have the entire house and garage resided.  Scott answered all our questions before and during the project.  Since Scott's team would be at the house working, I added on a porch roof and some new storm windows.  Both Bob & Jim, did a fabulous job and worked through some very cold days to get the work finished.  The house looks amazing! I can't wait to show it off during the holidays :-)

"I have worked with contractors in the past but, never had such kind, courteous, punctual, and patient young men as Jovon and Jeremy. They worked with me on the situation I was in. My neighbor was going to install my storm door for free but he ended up in a cast due to a work injury. So now I'm stuck. I contact Angi to get some Quotes. Jovon set up the appointment. Arrived on time. Just toward the end of the install we discover I had ordered the door to wide I had a 36" and I needed a 32". So then I went online to find the right door. Jovon and Jeremy gave me another appointment for the next day, They arrived at 10 AM and went out of their way to take me back to Menards to exchange the door. I Will RECOMMEND these wonderful guys to every one I hear of that needs work done. Jovon and Jeremy I Thank you for doing a great job at an affordable price. ."

"This company did a very nice, efficient job. I had 3 essentially unfinished crawlspaces under various rooms on the first floor of my house. Until I hit angie's list, I had a very difficult time finding someone who specialized in this kind of work.

Brian came out to take a look at the crawlspaces and did a great job advising me of my options. He issued a written estimate outlining each option and the associated prices within a couple of days via email.

I opted to have them clear the crawlspaces, pour concrete flooring, install flashing and then spray insulate the crawlspaces. I was concerned that I would need a permit for the work. Brian advised me that this type of work did not usually require a permit. My village seems to require a permit for everything, so I checked with the village and confirmed that it did not require any permit.

The company's personnel completed the process of clearing the crawlspaces and pouring concrete in less than a day.  The crew was prompt, efficient and polite.  There was some minor confusion about the disposal of the old insulation and vapor barriers they pulled out of the spaces, but was quickly resolved by the company's personnel.

After the initial phase, I was advised to contact the company to schedule the spray insulation after the concrete dried (about 4 days).  Again, the service was easily scheduled, prompt, efficient and courteous.

Overall this company provided an efficient, economical, timely resolution to a nasty problem that had bothered me for years.  If you are not aware of the condition of your crawlspaces, I advise you to take a look and, if they are trashed, lacking a concrete floor, or uninsulated, by all means give these guys a call.

"In a time when its hard to find quality, reliable help, my expectations for a good tradesman were not very high. I wanted to add a downstairs bathroom for my home and randomly selected a company. To my surprise, Dan Church and Construct Boss surpassed my expectations. They were very knowledgeable and helped me save in areas I would have overspent. His team was thorough and efficient while paying attention to the small details. It's nice to find a handyman you can depend on. Thanks Construct Boss!"

Garages questions, answered by experts

You should spray garage door lubricant on its important mechanical parts, including the hinges, rollers, springs, bearing plates, lock, armbar, and, potentially, rail. Do not lube the tracks, though you should clean these regularly for optimal performance.

The most common garage door material is aluminum, but the best material for you depends on your budget and location. Wood is the most expensive to repair but tends to add the most curb appeal, while fiberglass or composite doors cost less to fix.

Aluminum won’t rust, so it’s a great option if you live somewhere humid or rainy. Steel doors are durable but are prone to rust. If you live somewhere with extreme temperatures, hot or cold, you might opt for fiberglass, which won’t split if the temperatures skyrocket or drop below freezing.

The amount of paint needed to cover a two-car garage floor depends on the surface area and the product's coverage rate. On average, a standard two-car garage floor measures 400 to 500 square feet. Coverage ranges from 100 to 200 square feet per gallon for epoxy paint, depending on the product and application method. After some quick math, you may need 2 to 5 gallons of epoxy paint with two coats to cover a two-car garage floor.

If you open your garage manually, you don’t need sensors. If you have an automatic garage door opener, sensors are required by law. The federal law UL 325 mandates that all residential garage door openers in the U.S. must include sensors. Designed to prevent accidents and reduce the risk of entrapment, the sensors should be able to reverse the motion of the garage door within two seconds of detecting an obstruction. The sensors are there to keep you, your family, and your belongings safe from a door that might otherwise come down too hard or too fast.

If push comes to shove, and you need to manually open your garage door, then you should be able to do so. To manually open your garage door, first, make sure that the door is in the down position. You’ll need to unlock your garage door opener’s emergency release mechanism, which is typically a red robe that you can find on the carriage. Once you’ve pulled the cord, you can manually lower the door.

If your garage door is stuck in an open position, consider contacting a professional to safely release the opener.
