"Took a full year from when we put the deposit down for a new liner, to get installed! They came out over 10 times measuring and re-measuring. Finally I sent my measurements directly to Merlin and I also was the one who approved there prints. so that they could start making it. Gary said ?they will have the liner in 5 days and install on the next day. 2 weeks later he finally installs the liner and explains to me that Merlin requires a new way of measuring and that is why he was having an issue (it was a standard tape measure). Gary through out the summer had multiple excuses as to why various things weren?t going as planned. He had 1 employee quit, the replacement got first, and hire two young guys (in which 1 quit). Now he is heading back home, the Philippines and doesn?t plan on coming back. The one guy that stayed is going to buy the business over payments (no experience, except the last 3 months). BEWARE!"

Because they are pool owners themselves, Terry and Tom have firsthand understanding of how much the communities of Northeast Wisconsin (including Green Bay, Appleton, Manitowoc, Surgeon Bay, Algoma, Sheboygan, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac & all Cities in between) need a quality design/build pool contractor with good follow-up and great customer service. Their passion for good customer service and a commitment to quality and creativity has motivated the Hendricks to bring you Splash, another choice in your search for a pool contractor. "We contracted with splash custom pools to renovate our 35 year old inground swimming pool. Part of the remodel included pouring a new concrete deck and coping and installing linear drains. The quality of the work was worse than sub par. The drains were not installed at the correct height, the coping has large gaps and holes, and the concrete relief joints were sawn with a dull blade causing many chips and cracks. The concrete look terrible and now needs to be completely removed again and re-poured which will be very labor intensive and costly. The owner, Scott also did not complete the work as scheduled and was not responsive to multiple calls requesting resolution to the poor quality of flatwork. We then heard that his employee that did the concrete work was no longer employed with the company, yet Scott refuses to stand behind his work. Part of the remodel also included all new equipment, pumps, lights, filters, etc,, all of which was never delivered to us. We have been left with a large hole in the ground and an unfinished pool for over 1.5 years. Splash Pools also refuses to provide their insurance information so we have now filed litigation against him personally and Splash Pools. Beware of this company and do not give them any money prior to researching their reputation."

Hot tubs don’t necessarily add value to a home—but they don’t take it away either. It depends on the potential buyer. A well-landscaped in-ground hot tub is attractive to buyers who prioritize relaxation and fun. Others would rather not deal with the maintenance. 

If water is left inside the hot tub pump over a cold winter, it could freeze and severely damage the pump, water lines, and jets. That can cause leaks, which require very expensive repairs. Freezing or leftover water can stain and damage the hot tub shell, which leads to replacement. Even in mild climates, leaving sitting water in the tub or pipes for a long period of unuse is a bad idea, since disinfecting chemicals fade and the water can develop bacteria, algae, and other big headaches when it’s time to use the tub again.

You should put chlorine in your hot tub on a regular basis. To keep bacteria away, keep the chlorine level in your hot tub at between 3-5 mg/l, which may mean you need to add chlorine daily or at least every two to three days. Don’t add chlorine to your hot tub water more than once per day.

Hot tub repairs cost between $200 and $500 on average. You can minimize those costs by maintaining your hot tub and keeping necessary supplies on hand. An elevated shelf in the garage is a great place to store your water care chemicals so that kids and pets will stay safe and you’ll always have them around. 

Your hot tub should be drained of existing water, cleaned, and refilled every three to four months at a minimum. Follow your tub manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning, and rinse thoroughly when finished to eliminate any residue from the cleaning products. This is also a good time to inspect your tub’s cover in good lighting for any leaks, tears, or other damage that might cause problems. 

Using your hot tub manufacturer’s suggested cleaners and methods, keep your hot tub filters clean to avoid a loss of water heat. This will help extend the filter’s useful life and efficiency. If the filter is more than two to three years old, replace it with a new one and buy a second filter to keep around as a spare.

Most hot tub motors can last between five and 10 years; however, hot tub motors can burn out sooner if the hot tub water is not maintained or if the motors themselves are not maintained or protected from the elements. Since hot tub motors (also referred to as spa pumps) power the jets and circulate the water, they are important for the functioning of your spa. Buying a quality motor, keeping the hot tub filter clean, and keeping the wet end of the motor wet and the dry end dry can help them last longer.
