"We contracted Empire for new carpeting throughout the house and removal of 650 ft of ceramic tile tile and installation of LVT. ALso included was the removal and replacement of sub-floor if needed. The tile removal was performed with no protective covering, tenting or venting. This resulted in the entire 2300 sq ft house covered in ceramic dust. The air was unbreathable and we forced to spend the noght in a hotel until a cleaning crew came in to clean the house. The sub-floor did not need to be touched, which we had paid $1200. When the carpet was installed we realizes the they had left out a room in the contract. When we asked to have the carpet adjusted with the overcharge hey refused. The LVT installation was awlful. Lumpy, bumpy tiles, missing grout, baseboards covered in grout. Empire said they would send an inspector out.They called at 9:00 am on a Saturday morning saying they would arrive between 2 and 4. Needless to say they never showed. They have repeatedly made appts and end up cancelling. All we have are empty promises a bumpy floor. We are out $8500 and now have to delay listing our home."

The lining that THEY selected for me looks like reflective trash bags up in my windo from outside. I also expressed concern that I should only get one window treated first as a test, before committing to all 5- and the roomsbeautiful agent persuaded me to just do all 5. So I spend 2000 on these Drapes, which I will never in a thousand years put up in my home. And they won't accept refunds, and they only take zelle payments which cannot be reversed or argued.   • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.  

Rescreening a door costs an average of $7 to $150. It’s a relatively easy process that only requires 30 minutes to an hour’s work.

There are a number of ways to secure windows. You can add motion detectors or window sensors to detect movement and impact or change the window locks to make them stronger. Some of the ways you can secure windows are much like how you secure a home: closing the curtains at night and setting up security cameras outside so you can monitor your property even in your absence. 

If your door has interchangeable inserts, you’ll likely want to swap the glass out for a screen during the summer months. The process to do so will vary by door, but you’ll follow these general steps: First, use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the retainer strips—the plastic strips running down both long (and sometimes all four) sides of the door. Then gently pull them out by hand. Carefully remove the glass insert from the door and replace it with the screen. Finally, push the plastic retainer strips back into place, working from top to bottom.

If you’re not an experienced DIYer, consider hiring a local patio repair contractor to rescreen your porch or sunroom. Unless you’re only repairing a small rip or hole, this project is not an easy job. A professional can also make recommendations for materials that will work best for your porch.
