Customers say: Quality work

"Tim was highly professional and punctual in fact they showed up an hour early. I wasn’t able to be home while Tim was performing the work. But he kept me in the loop the entire time. He advices a better alternative to solve my electrical outlet needs. Tim was very responsive with addressing all of the questions I asked via text leading up to the install day. Over the last couple of years I’ve had electrical work done by three other electricians two of which were good. Overall the level of service Tim provided was above and beyond."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"They got in touch with me quick to learn about the problem, and the tech called me soon after, far early into the window they gave me for a call-back. Most importantly, they understood and fixed the problem — my iMac's Apple Mail conking out. The tech helped dump out several hundred thousand items to make room for new messages. I'm still not sure how my disk got so full when I use the computer normally, but Nathan got my Apple Mail rolling again. Initially I was worried because they were far away and tech was from another faraway location. And, I thought they were a bit pricey a first; it felt strange to pay such a sum before they did anything. But in the end, the money was appropriate given the time it took to work on and fix the problem, which Nathan did diligently. His remedy twice required them to let the computer do its thing — once for about 20 minutes and again for about an hour... but they did call back when they said they would to check on the progress. I would definitely hire them again."

"Rich and his team provided end-to-end services and were kind, professional, prompt, and most importantly did everything they said they were going to do.
From a frantic phone call (Help!  Our pipes leaked!) from out of state to joining his team after they started drying out the house to the very end as they were testing functionality of our new door, CustomCraft was there, anticipated our questions, and provided quality, skilled people to get the job done.
Thank you CustomCraft!

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The Biden Administration banned the sale of incandescent light bulbs for general service lamps in 2023. All household light bulbs must meet a minimum efficiency of 45 lumens per watt, three times that of a standard incandescent light bulb.

The main motivation was to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. It is expected that banning incandescent light bulbs will cut over 200 million metric tons of carbon emissions over the next 30 years. Some bulbs are exempt, like chandelier lights and Christmas lights.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

To determine if an electrical outlet is blown, look for visible signs of damage such as a burning or smoky smell, burn marks, or a melted or discolored plastic cover. If you notice a burning smell, contact an electrician immediately. Other signs include a plug that keeps falling out or the outlet not working when you test it with different devices. For further troubleshooting, you can use a voltage tester or multimeter to check for power; a reading of zero indicates a problem. Also, check your circuit breaker or fuse box to see if the circuit was tripped and reset it if necessary. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the outlet may need to be replaced.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.

Yes, a water leak poses a major fire risk at your home because water is a conductor of electricity. Water that comes into contact with sparks or electrical wires can instantly ignite flammable materials. Additionally, any type of exposure to water can cause wires and other electrical components within your home to corrode. When assessing categories of water damage, it's important to know that even a small amount of moisture near wiring could cause sparks that lead to a fire.
