"Josh and Bill of C&R Custom Exteriors did a fantastic job on our paver patio. They made sure that the patio was pitched away from our house to avoid any water flowing back into our foundation and used top notch materials for the base to ensure the pavers don't shift or settle over time. They got all the base, border, and pavers installed in November of last year and followed through on completion of the project with polysand this spring. I would recommend Josh and C&R Custom Exteriors to anyone looking to have a patio done."

Customers say: Quick response

"Extremely pleased with the power wash / sealing project Vince did on our concrete patio. From start to finish he was a pro, promptly quoted and visited our property. He is extremely knowledgeable and proficient in the service he provides. 5 Stars is not nearly enough on his rating. It should 10 stars at least"

Customers say: Terrific value

"I would highly recommend Eden Landscaping. We had some vague ideas of what we might want and asked them to come out and take a look at the project. We discussed the many areas that needed work, and they were VERY helpful giving us great ideas. Luis designed the project and was able to show us a picture of what the end result would look like. They have a very professional, respectful, hardworking crew, Because of the great ideas recommended, we did more than we had originally planned at a very fair price. Definitely a 5 Star firm."

Patios questions, answered by experts

Yes, porches require foundations. The type of foundation required, however, is determined by the type and use of the porch. For example, a screened-in porch won’t require a new cement foundation. However, if you turn your porch into a sunroom or plan on making it a living space, then chances are you need a foundation that’s more permanent than piers and posts.

The life span of your solarium will depend on the materials used and how much wear and tear the room experiences from the inside and from the outside due to weather. On average, you can expect your solarium to last anywhere from 10 years to 50 or more. In rare cases, such as with old estates, solariums can last over 100 years.

In most parts of the U.S., adding a screened-in porch requires a building permit. Since this type of project often involves structural work and changes to your home’s footprint, homeowners should adhere to local guidelines. That said, permit rules can vary widely depending on where you live and how extensive the project is. Before you start sketching out plans or ordering materials, check in with your city or county’s building department to avoid headaches, fines, and potential structural issues down the line.

In most cases, you can attach a greenhouse to any type of house. However, certain factors need to be considered, such as the structural integrity of the house, available space, and local building regulations. You should consult with a professional contractor or architect to assess the feasibility and ensure proper construction methods.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.
