"There aren't enough stars to adequately rate how much I am pleased with Leo's High Quality Construction! Great communication, very skilled carpenters, efficient, reasonable, and very hard working. As a retired journeyman carpenter myself, I knew what I wanted and how I wanted it done. They accommodated my every want and improved on it by sharing some newer techniques and products. The finished deck with handicap ramp was completed timely and everything I hoped for. While here, I was also looking for a fence around around a patio. I found who will be building that also! Already got started."

"We had a great experience working with Top Bros construction and remodeling. They fully removed our tile and wood flooring and installed LVP that we had provided. They also installed new trim and baseboards throughout, which look great. They were timely and efficient. We are very happy with the outcome!"

"John installed crown and base molding throughout entire kitchen. He drywalled areas where walls had been removed and arches expanded. He was very efficient, professional, and completed the job as agreed on time and within budget. We will use him in the future for other remodeling projects!"

"The job was done as planned with materials we selected. The under structure of the deck is with 12” spaced joist exceeded building code which makes for very sturdy structure when covered with composite decking. We are very pleased with the resulting 30’X 14’ deck."

"Wisconsin Innova Construction did a great job fixing our deck by replacing rotted wood panels and building a safer railing and stairs. They saved us the hassle and cost of totally replacing our deck. The team was efficient and professional. We will consider them for other projects in the future."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.
