"Cherry Tree Service did an awesome job. I had 2 60ft oak trees that need to be brought down due to rotting. Their prices were very reasonable, they cleaned up the job site, and they completed all of the work appropriately and timely. I will use them again when I need trees removed."

"They were very professional. Got there within the hour of when they said. There was an arborist and two guys. They knew what they were doing. They left the yard cleaner than when they started, they raked and blew the yard. They did a terrific job! The tree looks great. I would hire them again right away."

"Luis and his team were great! I had a large tree that was surrounded by my house, the neighbors house, and a garage. They had it down and the wood stacked neatly in about half a day. Later in the day, I called back to see where the anchors were for my sons playhouse, and Luis said he would check with the crew and call me back. Within 30 min I got a call back saying where they anchors were but not to worry as Luis had already came back and put the playhouse/anchors back in himself. What great customer service!! I would definitely recommend them to others and hire again for future needs."

"Juan isn't just a person with a team who can remove large trees with efficiency; he is an arborist who really has vision of what can be done with a property. I recommend him not only for tree removal but for planting and landscape work. And the value that you get for the price is just great."

"I had them cut 2 very large trees down and grind one of the stumps. They did a fantastic job! I had them leave the wood and they even stacked it off to the side. Just fantastic work all across the board. They cleaned up after themselves and just over all so greatful for them! 20 out of 10. Fantastic work!"

"Sylvester did a fabulous job on this task. All we needed was to have some dead trees laying over a non-live utility line cut-up more along with some of the other shrubs that were affected by the weight of the trees. We did not have the right equipment to complete this part of the project. Sylvester completed the task with great efficiency and professionalism. We would definitely recomment him and hire him again if needed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

It is good to spray water on a Christmas tree to help keep the needles hydrated. Spraying a Christmas tree with water prevents dryness, stops needles from falling off, and reduces the risk of fire.

On average, tree removal costs around $750, with a typical range between $200 and $2,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the tree's height, trunk diameter, species, and overall health. Accessibility is also a key factor; costs will be higher if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or located near structures like power lines or your home. Additional costs may apply for services such as stump removal (which can add $100 to $150), log-splitting, debris cleanup, and obtaining necessary permits. It is also customary to tip the professional, usually between $20 and $100.
