"Cameron did a superior job on our deck painting. There were lots of challenges with the shortage of paint, height of the deck above ground, and inclement weather. He was persistent, reliable and had excellent communication skills. We are very pleased with his honesty and work ethic."

"Eric Peters was terrific in keeping us informed and letting us know what we needed to do (cut back some plants touching the house) ahead of time. He put us in touch with a color consultant who came up with a subtle color scheme that makes the house look much better, makes it blend into its environment (good since its shape is utilitarian) and makes it distinctive at the same time. The crew was efficient and quiet. When there was one mistake in starting to paint shutters the wrong color, they quickly corrected it when we spoke to them. Every one was pleasant and friendly to deal with. We had a positive experience start to finish and the house looks great."

"Michael was very easy to get ahold of and responded with an estimate presented the next day. He started the job within 3 days and worked constantly for 2 days until the job was done. Covered all furniture and left the condo very clean. The paint job was great and would hire again."

"Kenzie and his crew did an excellent job. We had a board to replace on our deck, and then they cleaned and stained our deck. They were also fantastic about clean-up everyday. We are definitely going to be hiring them for more work on our house."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Most gutter painting pros also specialize in complete home exterior painting. You may save by making your gutter painting part of the cost to paint the exterior of a house in its entirety. Many people have all parts of their home exterior painted simultaneously to keep everything looking equally fresh. Consider having walls, trim, porches, shutters, and doors painted as well.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.
