"I should have gotten more estimates but I was worried about what was behind my bathroom walls that might have lead to more expenses than the original estimate. The bathtub looks great but the first time I took a shower the water pressure was terrible. They sent someone out the next day but he was unable to resolve the problem. There were several conversations and I was told the plumber thought there was a cracked pipe and I should get a local plumber out to fix it. They did offer to split the cost of the repair bill. However, I was never informed of any issues with the pipes and when I did get a plumber out, I was informed it was not my pipes and the problem was with one of the newly installed pipes. In my opinion, this is a problem that should have been caught during installation. Now I am waiting for a fourth service person to rip out one of the walls and replace the pipe. For as much as I paid, I expected better quality installation."

Generally, you’ll spend somewhere from $150 to $500 installing plumbing under a kitchen sink and $200 to $800 installing plumbing under a bathroom sink. These costs could rise if you don’t have a plumbing hookup nearby and you have to reroute plumbing from outside of your kitchen or bathroom.
There are three main types of shower valves: pressure-balancing, thermostatic, and diverter. Pressure-balancing and thermostatic valves are both considered mixing valves because they regulate water flow and temperature, but they do so in different ways. A pressure-balancing valve senses changes in water pressure, such as from a flushing toilet, and adjusts the incoming hot and cold water to maintain a consistent temperature; these typically use a single knob. A thermostatic valve uses a thermostat to precisely control the water temperature and requires a separate control to adjust the water volume. A diverter valve directs the flow of water from one fixture to another, such as switching from a tub faucet to a showerhead in a tub-shower combination.
Any drain in your house requires a water trap to prevent sewer gases from entering the home. Dishwashers don’t have an internal water trap, so they must use an external P trap. The most convenient P trap for the dishwasher is already in the plumbing under your sink.
According to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), the distance between your trap and the vent should be no more than 6 feet. For your vent to work properly, it needs to feed into the drain line within 6 feet of trapways that connect to it. Using this formula, you should be able to determine whether you will need multiple vent lines.
A water pressure regulator, also known as a pressure-reducing valve (PRV), is typically located near the main water shut-off valve where the main water line enters your home. Common places to check are basements, utility areas, or outside near the water meter. The device is usually bell-shaped. Its purpose is to control the water pressure coming into your home from the public supply, protecting your pipes, plumbing fixtures, and appliances. If you can't find a regulator, your home might not have one. In cases of high water pressure, installing a PRV is recommended.
