"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Stunning Refinish – Highly Recommend! I couldn't be happier with the way our hardwood floors turned out! We had some old, torn-up floors that honestly looked like they were beyond saving—but the transformation is unbelievable. After the refinishing, they look like brand new floors, absolutely gorgeous, with a smooth, rich finish that completely elevates the look of our home. Not only was the quality of the work exceptional, but the price was also more than fair—especially considering the results. On top of that, they were incredibly professional: they showed up 15 minutes early, ready to work, and clearly take pride in what they do. It’s rare to find that kind of reliability and craftsmanship these days. If you're thinking about getting your hardwood floors redone, do it—and call these folks. I can't recommend them enough!"

"Great experience from the first call to the finished product. Outstanding service, communication, and work done. I called for a quote a few months ago and set up an appointment. Sara took my call. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I had two appointments with Jon - the estimate and the stain sample. He made a very good first impression. He was friendly and personable. He answered all my questions and communicated the plan to me very well. After I accepted the quote, he came back for the stain sample. He was timely and quickly sanded down an area of the floor to show me the options. He gave me his knowledgeable opinion of the best options based on my wants and needs. I appreciated that he took those extra few minutes to talk through the options as I was unsure which stain to choose that would best blend with existing wood floor stains. We ended up going with the stain he suggested and weâ re very happy with the choice. Josiah and another contractor came to do the job. They were timely and got down to business right away. Josiah was a great lead on the project. He was friendly, answered all my questions, and kept me posted on progress throughout the three days of the job. The crew did a fantastic job refinishing the floors and installing transitions and new baseboards. They left the place clean and didnâ t leave any garbage or scrap materials behind. After they were done, Josiah reported some minor damage to a set of blinds and a wall. Sara later asked how Wisconsin Wood Flooring could make that right. As the damage was minor, I declined any repairs but appreciated the honesty from the crew and offers to repair. When we returned to our home to see the finished product, we were incredibly happy with the result. As there was previous damage to the floors, we expected it to be imperfect, but the crew exceeded our expectations. The floors, transitions, and baseboards looked fantastic! After the work was done, Sara followed up to offer information on flooring care and to answer any questions I had. The communication and level of professionalism throughout the project was incredible. I would recommend this company to any friend or family member."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

A subfloor's lifespan can range from 30 years to the entire life of the house, which is often between 50 and 100 years. The actual longevity depends on the material and its protection from damage. For example, while OSB may last longer than plywood, it is not the best choice for heavy flooring like ceramic tile. The most critical factor is moisture; a subfloor that avoids water damage, mold, and termites can last for decades. However, prolonged exposure to moisture will cause it to warp, rot, or grow mold, significantly shortening its life.

Many doorways feature two door jambs. These are installed on both sides of a doorway to prevent the door from swinging too far. Door jambs usually stop the door at 180 degrees when closed.  A doorway floor transition sits between the door jambs on the floor, helping to create a safer and more aesthetically pleasing transition from one flooring type to the next.

The best flooring for radiant heat systems is tile, including porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone. These materials are excellent heat conductors, retain warmth well, and are waterproof, which prevents mold or rot in case of leaks from a hydronic system. Unlike wood, they do not pose a fire safety risk if the heating system overheats. Ceramic tile is a particularly popular choice as it is inexpensive, easy to install, and available in many styles, making it ideal for spaces like bathrooms. Other flooring types that work well with radiant heat include laminate, engineered wood, and vinyl. If you are installing radiant heating over a concrete slab, especially in a basement, it is advisable to install a vapor barrier first to prevent issues with moisture and condensation.

A stair runner can be cheaper than a carpet and will definitely save money over the cost of refinishing hardwood floors and stairs. The price depends, however, on the fabric and quality of the runner. A wool stair runner can be more expensive than an inexpensive polyester carpet and vice versa. Keep an eye on your budget, knowing that the higher quality the carpet and the carpet pad, the better the carpet will wear over time.
