They came out when expected and did the job promptly. In the winter we noticed the drive rising at the garage, and it was puddling at the front of the garage door. About mid winter, say January, we noticed a crack stretching out across the front of the garage. By spring the crack stretched across the whole front of the garage.
A couple more cracks have appeared at the front door and by the back garage door.
Called Ken out today, and he looked at it and said yes it should be replaced.
I have the rest of the driveway to do, but not within my budget at the moment, unless I find a less expensive contractor (which I am looking) I asked him to get these replaced right away, and he said he will not do it unless he does the rest of the driveway.
He is not going to do the rest of my driveway if this is how he does business and the kind of work he does. If I have him do the rest of the job and have same problems, is he going to omen out and repair or replace promptly if there I no other work for him?
And since he refuses to replace his poor work, my only direction now is seeking legal assistance. I feel I gave him the chance to fix his error, and he refused.
He will not get any referrals from me or anyone I know, or anyone they know, and so on.
I am sharing this story with every one.

They dug out a space for my new patio and had to re-route a new path for my sidewalk to the garage because the old walk no longer led to the door on my newly built garage. This re-routing was not part of the estimate but Mark had no problem working with me and accommodated me nicely. Mark also gave me his idea's of how to blend in the path of the sidewalk with the patio. Without his advice I don't believe it would have turned out as nice as it did. Mark's crew arrived at approx. 7:30am, they quickly removed my old sidewalk and dug out the area for my patio, new sidewalk and parking slab. After laying out the area and preping...gravel base...re-bar, the sidewalk and patio were poured the same day and stamped also. The parking slab was preped with base gravel and re-bar and poured the next day. I couldn't believe how hard and fast his crew worked. One could tell this crew had worked together and had plenty of experience. The job they did was fantastic and I felt Mark gave me more than I asked for. The crew, when finished cleaned up the area. I could not have been more please with Cusatis Construction Co. I highly recommend them. Provider performed the first application early in the morning, the day after a heavy rain. When the provider's young crew arrived, I asked them about seal coating a wet driveway. They assured me that it was no problem, as they would attempt the dry the driveway with blow dryers, and also that the sealant mixture had plenty of water in it's base anyway. When they were done, the driveway actually looked pretty good. However, we immediately noticed that they had splattered the black sealant compound on the bottom of our newer almond colored garage door. The provider does provide a one-year warranty. But the problems only got worse.
We don't live in an overly rainy area. However, after roughly two weeks, perhaps three, we noticed that only slight rainfall and the elements had already began to erode the coating from various areas of the driveway. There were patches and splotches of missing sealant all over the driveway, and the crack sealant was also curling up in various areas of the driveway. We called the provider, the owner came and inspected the driveway, and ordered the driveway to be resealed. The young crew came out again, applied another application to the driveway, and fixed the crack peeling issues. This was done on a thoroughly dry driveway, in the dead heat of summer. After that application, we still noticed that there were parts of the driveway where the sealant was already wearing off after only a month or so, and we were pretty sure it wouldn't last through the winter.
We were right, it didn't. Even though we don't plow our driveway, and use only plastic shovels and plastic shoes on our snow blower, the driveway looked horrible after the winter. The sealant was peeling in almost every area where there was any pitch or shade, and even in other areas that have no pitch, and are in direct sunlight.
We called the provider again about the driveway in May 2014. Provider gave a multitude of excuses why his formula was cracking and peeling where other providers' formulas had been durable, and stated that he would "touch up" the cracking and peeling areas of the driveway. He quoted his contract, defended his actions, accused our driveway of being the problem, and provided unprofessional customer service. We declined to have him return.
This was a bad experience all around, and we will not use this provider in the future. We will perform more due diligence before we choose another seal coating provider for our asphalt driveway.

Because our existing driveway was allowing water to pool at the intersection of the two outer legs, we had a small lake form in the winter, which froze and then became an ice rink. We decided to have it replaced and invited 3 firms to give us a quote. When Mike Snapp, the estimator/project engineer from Merit arrived to give us a quote, he noticed many things the other 2 firms either didn't notice or didn't share with me. Mike thought about all aspects of the project and what consequences raising and tilting the driveway for proper drainage would have on things like where the sidewalk met the driveway, water runoff and backing the edges of the new driveway, and even the effect of leaving some existing overgrown yews next to the driveway. He gave me a straight quote for all the work and materials to be used on the project and specified what each element would cost allowing me to pick and choose which options I wanted such as a regular or thicker layer of asphalt. Another contractor gave me a quote that had a slightly cheaper base price for 5600 sq. ft.(everyone else quoted 4600) but had a stipulation for up to $6000 for extra gravel if needed. All things considered, I believe you get what you pay for and overall Merit just did a much better job of pre-planning and they had good ratings on Angie's list so I went with them. I figured if they were that careful planning, then they would also do a good job of paving. I am very glad I did. A crew of around 8 men arrived on Saturday for the excavation phase and everything done was professional, efficiently done, and best of all they all seemed to really care about being careful not to damage overhanging trees, straightening existing grass lines, and everything involved with the removal of the old driveway. Both Mike and a foreman were present the entire time. Everyone was very friendly and answered any questions or concerns I had. The expertise of the skidloader driver was exceptional in both laying down the new gravel and spreading and feathering in the topsoil next to the driveway to about 8 feet out from the driveway. Everybody was a little leery about removing the yews because their root systems ran under the sidewalk. The operator using the backhoe did an excellent job of removing all four trees and their root balls without nicking, cracking, or uprooting the sidewalk, truly impressive. On Monday a different crew came to lay the asphalt. Again the crew was professional, efficient and all knew their jobs without the foreman having to give instructions. Again any questions I had were answered with a friendly reply. They even helped me make a slight modification to the sidewalk area and thought it would better match what I had done with retaining bricks on the other side. They cleaned up the area, feathered in the dirt up to the new level of the driveway and everything looked great when they left. Does Merit stand behind their product. I had a question about some pooling water in a small spot a few days later. Since Mike was going to be in the area, he stopped over to take a look at my concern. It turned out to not be an issue at all after we had the deluge of rain on the following Friday but the point is Merit did come out immediately to address my concern. Although Merit was not my cheapest bid, I believe spending the extra few hundred dollars was well worth it, I would definitely use them again if needed, and I would recommend them to anyone needing asphalt.

FAQs for gravel driveway repair projects in Kewaskum, WI
The average cost of a gravel driveway is about $1.25 to $2 per square foot, including the cost of materials, equipment, and professional installation. For example, a 16-by-30-foot driveway costs about $1,500. Cost factors include the type of gravel, how thick the gravel is installed, the condition of the landscape, and labor costs. Overall costs will vary depending on where you live and how accessible the job site is.
Concrete can crack from general wear, improper installation, or in response to uneven support from the soil underneath. Small, thin cracks on the surface of aging concrete are usually a result of normal wear and tear, while cracks on new concrete more likely indicate a problem with installation. Larger cracks or uneven steps can signify a much more severe issue. A concrete contractor should be able to diagnose the cause and repair concrete cracks for you.
The cost to install a concrete driveway is $4 to $15per square foot on average. Your price heavily depends on your desired concrete finish and driveway size.
For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay an average cost of $1,900. For a driveway at double that size (400 square feet), the average price is closer to $3,800. Plain concrete is significantly more cost-effective, averaging $7 per square foot, whereas stained concrete averages around $19 per square foot.
The cost of resurfacing concrete is $6 per square foot on average, though that cost can range from $3 to $9per square foot.
For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay $600 to $1,800, and for a driveway that is 500 square feet, that cost averages $1,500 to $4,500. Resurfacing your driveway will give you the look and feel of a new surface without the hefty cost.
A gravel driveway should be at least 4 to 6 inches deep, depending on the soil it’s installed on. Softer soil that doesn’t drain well should have a deeper gravel driveway. Deeper gravel will mean you spend more on materials and labor, but you’ll get a more stable driveway and avoid damage that needs to be filled or graded flat again.
