After reading Watry Homes reviews on this site, we contacted them in March. I had reached the point where I no longer wanted to maintain the house, and after researching siding options and speaking to other home owners, was seeking a contractor to install what I believed was the best siding solution, Hardy Plank. It was our intention to have the work done before the summer months, to avoid the disruption and scheduling conflicts which inevitably happen in high season.

Scott Watry came out and inspected/measured the house on March 17, presented window options and gave an overview of the process. Within a week we had an estimate and we gave him the commitment assuming the work would begin as soon as materials were received within a few weeks. The project did not get underway, however, until June 4th, the day I was leaving for two weeks of travel. My wife provided daily updates in my absence, and glowing reviews of Scott's workers, specifically, Paul and Rob who came in and installed the windows and doors. I met these guys later and they are true professionals who pay close attention to detail. The siders were also efficient and meticulous in their work, and cleaned up every day. The crew had a few guys, but Roberto, who appeared to be their lead, was very responsive to every question or request, and went out of his way to be accommodating. Splattered paint on a portion of our patio and sill appeared to be their only misstep.

In the end, we have a job that met our expectations in terms of quality, fit and finish. It was the punch list of several small items and requests which was emailed to Scott in mid-June that made the final conclusion of the project a little rocky. It turned out that part of the roof over our den did not receive adequate flashing necessary to prevent a leak that ensued after five days of rain. Scott insisted that it was the result of layers of caulk installed by someone else, inadequately sealing an inside corner of the roof. Dan, who was sent out later to make the repair, said the caulk and sealing had been done by their siders, and was still wet. Scott agreed to place a drywall patch in the interior ceiling where there was water damage, but I spent the better part of a day painting the ceiling, trim and walls to original condition once this was done. This put a damper on an otherwise great experience with Watry.

We totally respect Watry's workers and the diligence they exemplified every day. My feelings about Scott with him not taking ownership of the leak and the damage it caused was unfortunate because it would have been so easy to simply do so without casting blame on others. I also feel it would have been appropriate to personally stop by at the project's conclusion (today), to ensure he had a satisfied customer. As it was, he called and asked me to give a check for final payment to his worker before he left, without asking me if I was completely satisfied. In my view, the size and scope of our project would dictate that he do so. 

However, I would not be hesitant to recommend them as a reference primarily because of his crews.

They didn’t charge anything extra. The price was just for the inspection and they didn’t fix anything or do any maintenance. I think the price could have been a little bit lower. "I called three Angie's List companies for estimates on tuckpointing work that was needed on our home. This was the first time we've ever needed this type of work done. We chose J & B Restoration based on their responsiveness to our request for a quote, their Angie's List ratings, and price. Bruce and Jennifer Sell are very professional and attentive, and it was nice working with them. When I asked Bruce to reattach the gutters, which was outside of the work I had originally asked for, he came right away and took care of the items requested. The crew performing the tuckpointing were neat, courteous, and professional. The finished tuckpointing looks great and is barely noticeable! The new mortar matches the existing color almost perfectly, and the lines are clean and straight. We just had landscaping done prior, but J & B kept the area around our home neat and clean. "Even though I was late looking to book someone to refinish my deck for the summer, Majic Painting came through and was able to fit me in between jobs. They showed up and took the time to tell me all about my deck -- this is a new house for me and I wasn't sure exactly what I had -- and then went out to the truck and wrote up an estimate in 10 minutes.
They scheduled me for about a week later. Day one was a pressure washing. They made sure to mask off my painted siding and the patio are under the deck. The next day they returned and sanded the entire deck to make sure all the old oil was gone. Since my deck is Brazilian Tigerwood, they couldn't just use stain -- it needed a special application of oil.
They even replaced a few trim pieces that I had knocked off and lost during winter shoveling.
They stopped by a third time to check how the finish turned out and to make sure I was happy.
Overall I can't say enough good things. The deck still looks great. Would definitely hire Majic Painting again.
