"Brian contacted me right away after I inquired about needed a storm door and trim around my garage door installed. He arrived on time and got the job done, plus he removed a porch railing and hauled it away. Brian also cleaned up scrapes and swept after he was finished with the projects, all for a very fair price. If I have anymore projects in the future I will be contacting Valley Home Maintenance."

"Jesse did two small jobs at our house (fixed loose roof flashing and small carpentry project in the house) in a quality, affordable manner. He communicated clearly what the jobs entailed, the costs, and when they would be completed. We have recommended him to several friends and neighbors, and they have been equally satisfied with his work. Plus, heâ s a really nice guy!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

There are several reasons your grass may be dying that could be in or out of your control. The most common issues include poor drainage, under/overwatering, poor soil pH, low soil nutrients, low sunlight, or too much foot traffic.

Palm trees are relatively easy to grow, especially when planting different varieties in their native habitats. While regular watering is crucial in the first couple of months while the palm develops a strong root ball, palms typically require minimal maintenance once they’re established. You’ll need to prune palm fronds once or twice per year to keep it in tip-top shape.

Yes, backyard landscaping and total-home landscaping add value to your home. According to the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), high-quality landscape design has a 20 to 30 percent return on investment. So, when it comes time to sell your home, having a beautiful backyard landscaping oasis will increase your home’s value.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.
