Kraus Snowplows and Equipment was founded in 1978 by Tom Kraus. The primary business at that time was selling Patz Equipment. We have installed and serviced farm equipment ever since that time. We have expanded our offerings to Agromatic, Berg and Kraiburg farm products as time progressed. In 1997, we purchased a snowplow business and provide full sales, service and parts for Boss, Hiniker, Kage, Meyer, Western & Saltdogg snowplows and salters. In 2000, we began pouring concrete as a concrete contractor. We pour flat-work and walls for all agricultural, commercial and residential customers. Since the business has expanded, we now employ 10 people and have built a new shop and storage area in 2009.

"We went with Curb N Decor because they were priced fairly and because their work looked very good from the pictures we were shown. We wanted to keep our original concrete slab and then added decorative concrete around it. We also have a pergola, so he was going to put PVC pipe around the posts so when the time came that it had to replace the posts it would be easy. We also had them add some concrete to our 3rd stall driveway to widen it. Although we still feel the price was right and the work was pretty good, our whole experience has been soured by broken promises and extremely poor communication. It started when Bowie came over in May 2018. He was pleasant to talk to and really knew his stuff. I was emailed the quote over a month later. We put half down, and then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. They told us up front that they were juggling multiple jobs. We were a small job for them so we understood and waited our turn. Then the work was delayed due to the weather, which was also understandable. As summer turned into fall, we followed up several times to find out when the work would start. Very rarely would we get anybody on the phone, and their voicemail was always full so we couldn't leave a message. We were able to get a hold of Bowie via text, which seemed to work best. The work finally started the last week of October 2018 and completed about a week later. Shortly after the work was completed, it snowed and we were not able to enjoy our new patio until the following spring. Once the snow melted in 2019, we noticed there were splotches (white stains) on the concrete. On top of that the PVC pipe was not installed, so the pergola posts were completely cemented in. We reached out as soon as we saw this. We called many times and sent several texts. We finally received a response in August of 2019, saying there was defect in the cement coating and he would stop by to look at. His last words were "I will not forget u guys I swear". That was the last we heard from them. We again called several times and texted. In January 2020, we received a $100 check from them with no further explanation or contact. It's clear that they are suffering from too many jobs, not enough workers, Wisconsin weather, etc.. Some of these are forgivable, but poor customer service is not. We would give their work a solid B, and their customer service an low F. Having to constantly call and text with little to no response back was extremely frustrating. It's unfortunate that we have to leave this review. Had we have known what a long and frustrating process this was we would have went with another company."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can seal an old concrete floor as long as you remove stains and repair damage before sealing. Remove everything from the garage and clear the floor throughout with a concrete cleaner and power washing. Fill in cracks larger than 1/8 of an inch wide and remove all grease and rust stains before sealing. Make sure your concrete is fully dried before applying sealer.

No, cement cannot be used on its own except for rare circumstances, as it's only a binder to form other products, such as concrete or mortar. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to create a concrete or mortar mix. Concrete, for instance, needs cement, water, and aggregates such as sand and gravel. Using the right amount of water and water temperature is essential to ensure you have the right concrete slump and the mix spreads easily and cures well.

Stained concrete floors are extremely durable and can last a lifetime if properly maintained, which includes properly sealing them every few years or as needed. While some concrete floors can last for decades, exposure to extreme weather conditions may shorten their lifespan. Also, some stains, such as acid stains, are not as durable as others and may only last 20 years.

A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. Exposed aggregate concrete driveways should be 4 to 6 inches thick in most cases or 8 to 12 inches for commercial vehicles. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways should be 4 inches thick.

Precast concrete can last from 50 to 100 years or more. Precast concrete may have a longer lifespan than cast-in-place concrete due to the controlled curing conditions and lack of environmental exposure during the curing process. Properly maintaining and regularly inspecting your precast concrete can help extend its life and keep it in good condition for decades.
