We take great pride our experience, expertise, quality, and customer service that we provide to meet the consumer's needs. It is our mission to provide excellent workmanship and complete customer satisfaction, from the start to the completion of a project. order to understand the needs and expectations of our customers, we take great care to work and communicate with every customer a professional manner. Our reputation is based on service, safety, and quality, regardless of how large or small the job.

"Worst experience ever! Jon Dodd caused hundreds of dollars of damage to our house and would never admit to do doing it. I have over 30 pics to document the damages when he worked here. When confronted, he would not tell the truth, ever! Knew he put a shelf in wrong but took a chance and did not mention it. (He did admit it later) The shelf fell and broke $300 in wedding dishes. He is NEVER on time. Denied putting the big scratches in our brand new $800 sink. His paint sprayer was bad and leaking, yet he still tried to use it and wasted over $150 in Kilz and got it all over the floor, tracked it upstairs and never cleaned it up. He broke an antique mirror and denied doing it when he was the only one in our house! A job that we were guaranteed would take 3 days ended up taking over 5 WEEKS because he would not show up even after saying he would be there in text, and denied it until I showed him his own text! Stood us up several times. He is an immature pathological liar that I am convinced does not have the ability to ever tell the truth or admit guilt. His last screw up was installing a cabinet door (FINALLY) and stripping out the screws in the bottom hinge. Then telling me it was installed and ran out and drive away before I found it out. I am filing charges against him for all the damages and to get all the overspray cleaned up on all my furniture that he never covered, including $150 for a new internet/TV modem that barely works now because of the overspray that is now inside it. Jon does not have even the simplest of skills, and causes more harm than good. He can not even chalk without smearing it all over! Do not ever trust him!!"

Who is "The Backwoods Handyman" and what does he do? I provide professional, quality, old fashioned service in a high tech world. If there's something I can't help you with, I can help you find someone who can. From lawn care and landscaping, gutter cleaning, painting, computer repair, virus removal, networking, to custom wood and storage creations; and nearly anything in between, even clear-cutting wooded lots, the Backwoods Handyman is your go-to source for help. My name is Jake and I have more than 10 years of experience in computer repair & handyman work. I take a lot of pride in the quality of my work and in providing high-quality customer service on top of the actual work performed. Leaving a mess of the work area and cutting corners or using shoddy materials produces a poor end result which is unacceptable in my book. I firmly believe in treating my customers the way I would want to be treated if I were in their shoes. If I paid someone to come to my property and perform a service, I would want them to respect it as they would respect their own, and I don't think my customers should expect anything less of me. Nor would I want to call someone looking for help and be greeted by a grunted "yeah" or a snappy response; if I ever fail to answer the phone in a cheerful manner, then I don't deserve to have your business. When you work with me, you're dealing with a local small business, not someone overseas reading from a script. Whether you plan on starting new, repairing the old, assembling/setting up, moving, or just need an extra set of hands and a strong back to help with something, I'm able to help with just about anything. Please take a look at the photos from a few of the many projects I have done by clicking here. I know that times are tough and everyone is a little short on money these days, so I do my best to keep my rates low and affordable. They vary depending on the type of work, but I am more than happy to provide you with an estimate. I love animals as well and have no problem with pets being around so long as the job doesn't create an unsafe environment for them. Please e-mail or call with what you need help with or any questions you might have. I will be happy to assist you in any way I can.

Closets questions, answered by experts

There are a few reasons custom closets are expensive: materials used, the luxury factor, and time to build. The people who can afford custom closets are those who can afford increased rates, and construction workers and contractors know this and charge accordingly. The time to build custom closets is substantial, especially if expensive material is being used or intricate details (like carved wood) are added to the project.

Custom furniture can provide more efficient storage and maximize resources.

The addition of a properly installed built-in closet will generally make a home more competitive on the market and increase its sales price. If, however, you are converting an existing room into a walk-in closet, it will likely drive the value downward. The balance between utility and value is hard to get right, but generally speaking, if you add utility with a built-in closet that doesn’t detract much from the square footage of the room, then you’ll likely add value to your home.

You can budget a little less money for how to build a closet with wire shelves than with wood shelves. Some people don’t like the aesthetics that wire shelves provide, though, meaning they’ll gladly spend a little more to add wood shelves to the build. If you decide to buy pre-made wire shelves instead of building custom-sized wood shelves, you’ll be restricted in the closet shelving dimensions you can use.

If you have a bathroom closet with movable shelves, you can place them at virtually any spacing that works for you. Useful measurements between shelves in the working, or middle, section can be 10 to 16 inches for towels or linens. Lower or higher shelving could be up to 24 inches between shelves to store lesser-used or bulky items or boxes.
