Completely awful experience working with owner Dave Roberts. My experience sounds like it was similar to another reviewer in that Dave is great before the deal, and absolutely horrific to deal with if anything goes wrong.
I ordered my blinds to be ?inside mount.? Dave said that they would be ?semi-flush inside mount?, explaining that they would protrude from the casing about an inch, rather than being completely flush. I said that was fine, but explained that I just didn't want anything - the actual mechanism or the decorative rail - above or outside of the casing on top, as that would then appear to be "outside mount". I was adamant that I did not want " anything mounted on the actual wall or paint." He assured me it would not be. I even took the time to visit his store to be sure of what I was getting, and to confirm that the protrusion was something I could live with. He either intentionally lied to me or he messed up the measurements.
You might think that paying $3,000 for blinds that I hate the looks of would be the worst part of this, but you'd be wrong; the absolute worst part was trying to talk to the owner about the problem. He was instantly irate, defensive and even threatening. As soon as I realized the blinds were installed incorrectly, I told the installer I wanted to talk to Dave. He called Dave and the two of them went back-and-forth. When I interrupted and asked to speak with him directly, the installer hung up the phone, apologized to me and said that Dave was refusing to talk to me, that he had a contract and he (the installer) was advised to not leave my house without payment. I assured the installer that I had no intention of NOT paying, but I wanted to talk to Dave about what happened. I then called the store and spoke with Jessica, telling her I didn't get what I thought I was getting, and I wanted to talk to Dave to see if it can be fixed. Jessica replied: "He was supposed to trim it down to fit inside." Yep, that's what I thought. I finally got Dave on the phone and in a word it was a nightmare. The man was extremely angry and as another reviewer wrote "LOUD", accusing me of wasting his time and pulling him away from another customer. Keep in mind I had no issues with Dave up until this point, but before I even said one word, he was yelling at me. "I PAY MY GUYS $150 BUCKS AN HOUR. I want them out of your house RIGHT NOW. PAY THEM NOW OR WE'LL RIP THEM OUT AND YOU WILL BE SUED." I held the phone away from my ear and let him rant a bit, but he would not stop to let me speak. Finally, I literally (and this is not an exaggeration) had to yell, ?Dave, Dave, Dave.? to get him to stop talking. I said "Please listen to what I'm trying to explain to you." His exact words: "No. I don't have to listen to you. I have a signed contract. I don't care if you're not happy - that's why I have a contract." I have never experienced anything like it in my entire life. His words and tone were so angry and aggressive that had the conversation been in person rather than over the phone, I would have been scared, and I'm not one to scare easily. I knew at that moment there was no chance he would attempt to fix the work so I had no choice but to pay because I had a second house showing scheduled and I promised the buyers the blinds would be installed. But I did not get what I ordered. If you end up using Blind and Shutter Gallery, I sincerely hope you have no issues. If you do, you will likely find yourself trying to communicate and remedy the problem with a very hostile and irate owner who will attempt to intimidate you by threatening to sue you, not just for refusing to pay, but also if you write a negative review. Yes, you read that right; if he follows through on his threat, I will be sued for submitting this review. I?ll provide updates after the trial which will henceforth be known as the 2015 Landmark Case of Blind v. Sighted. I'll close with something positive. Installer Danny is a super nice guy. Consider putting him in charge of customer relations. P.S. They neglected to extend the Angie's List coupon as well, even though Dave told me that they would. Thanks for nothing, Blind and Shutter Gallery. Provided great suggestions on where to place windows, etc. as well as decorative advice (door knobs, trim, etc.). Was also flexible as we weighed out size, location and design of both sunroom and shed. Generally fair priced. Some unexpected delays with sickness, personal time, etc. of his contractors but this is typical with most projects of this size. I'd say the delays numbered in days and not weeks.
Finished product looks great and we are very happy we chose Mike.

Price was an issue as it was not a small project. But I also like to support local businesses too. Seems most anyone can provide some referrals if they are legit. But I know the devil is in the details. First off design was a major point of discussion as the project called for a somewhat spiral set of stone steps coming off the patio down to the yard and adjoining lower level patio and portico that was already in place. Everyone I asked to present a design, (3 seperate firms) all brought back steps going exactly where I did not want them. EL quickly revised the design and came right back with exactly what we asked for and more. Several suggestions around specially challenging areas that others brushed over. Seeing how it came together it was obvious the experience they possess paid off. The weather was the hottest it has been in years and dry dry dry. These guys were on time every day and slugged it out during the worst weeks of the worst heat ever. I was amazed at the tenacity to bust through and get our project done for the Labor day Holiday. Each day the site was cleaned up and tidy when they left at 5 or after. Our property was respected and great care was taken to minimize the damage to the existing lawn, driveway and landscaping. When we asked for some addition work during the project we were quickly advised and given the quote and they actually completed the additional work first. A fire pit using some of the original retaining wall blocks that were removed. It looks awesome too. They guys were good to have around and cheerful while working like dogs to create something we will enjoy for so many years to come. Now to the details. Straight lines on a 36 foot long raised paver patio. Built on 40 tons of gravel fill all placed one wheel barrow at a time. Enough grade that water runs off yet level enough for the hot tub. Did I mention the lines are straight straight straight? Like many building projects it all about the preparation. These guys painfully laid it out and did not cut corners in getting this monster look like it was made for Kings. Oh yea it also has a massive S curve around the garage and it is an eye grabber. The trim and rock boundary was also so nice and clean looking! Planted grass seed in the bare spots on the way out. Connected the downspouts from my gutters in to rigid underground pipes that will never collapse like the flex pipe others proposed. This helped in removing anxiety about making a wrong selection. Total estimates given includes EVERYTHING!!! This was much appreciated as we have experienced having quotes, only to have add ons not mentioned either in installation, removal, furniture moving. Jane was very good in her questioning to find out exactly what was involved and needed to ensure that any factors involved were figured in to the quote. Matt showed up on time to install the hardwood and tile flooring and was professional, hard working, polite and answered any question that we had. Could not of had a better installation.

A person named Aaron made an appointment with me to check some measurements on December 16, 2010 and I left a meeting in Minneapolis early to meet with him, but he didn't show up. When I inquired about the status of the window I learned that it hadn't even been ordered yet. I cancelled the project. Pat McLaughlin called and informed me that Ultimate Exteriors of MN was going to keep 25% of the project cost, $1,131.50, because I cancelled the project after 3 days. I pointed out that Ultimate Exteriors of MN was in breach of contract for not ordering the window, and that having not ordered the window, and with Aaron not keeping his appointment with me they could not have incurred any expense with respect to my project. Pat McLaughlin said it didn't matter, stating Ultimate Exteriors of MN is entitled to keep the money based on what is written in the fine print on the back of the paper I signed. Pat also claimed that the paper I signed disallows any verbal promises, so Ultimate Exteriors can promise anything to get the customer to sign, and then do what it wants, or do nothing, regardless of what was promised to get the order. To date I have not received any refund of my $2,500. I twice asked Ultimate Exteriors of MN personnel to have owner Jon Drews call me but he never did. Completion of my project will now be delayed two months. I have no trust whatsoever for these people and would not under any circumstances even allow them in my house again, much less start cutting a big hole in it. Jon Drews stated he would refund my deposit but kept $1,131.50 because he says the fine print on the back of a document I signed says he can. Ultimate Exteriors of Minnesota did absolutely nothing and incurred no expense on my behalf, yet is keeping my money anyway. Ultimate Exteriors of Minnesota uses high pressure sales tactics and promises of everything the customer asks for in order to get the customer to sign the document. But, Ultimate Exteriors of Minnesota says that in the fine print on the back of the document it says that whatever was promised to get the job is irrelevant and doesn?t count. Thus, they can do whatever they wish, or do nothing at all, and keep your money if you cancel. Nowhere in all of the fine print do they state when they will do your job. I was not able to reach Jon Drews by telephone and I asked Ultimate Exteriors of Minnesota personnel twice to have Jon Drews call me but he never did. Rather, he sent Angie?s List a lengthy and highly creative personal attack against me as if he had talked to me. Is this the type of person you want trust your home improvement project to? I forwarded to Angie's List the email from Ultimate Exteriors that promised me 18 hours before I signed the sales agreement: \"I am confident we can complete this project before New Years, and I will see what we can do to get it done before Christmas\". Look near the top of Ultimate Exteriors' response where they state I was told that \"we were booked for the rest of the year...job would not be going forward until January 2011.\" The window wasn't even ordered a month later, and with Marvin Windows closed between the Christmas and New Year Holidays the project couldn't have been completed in January 2011 either. In the end, Ultimate Exteriors kept $1,131.50 of my money after doing absolutely nothing. They didn't order the window and didn't show up at the meeting they scheduled. My Big Mistake was not checking Angie's List first. If you still plan on using this unethical contractor read carefully the fine print of the Additional Terms on the back of the Sales Agreement under the 2nd paragraph where it states: \"The buyer understands that there are no oral agreements\". They way they use this is that they can and will promise you anything necessary to get your signature and 50% deposit, and then they will disavow the oral promises made before you signed. Also, note that there is no place on the Sales Agreement where it promises when Ultimate Exteriors will do your job. Be prepared to wait until Ultimate Exteriors feels like doing your job. Then, read the 3rd paragraph which states Ultimate Exteriors can keep 25% of the contract cost if you cancel for any reason, including Ultimate Exteriors not doing what it promised and what you paid them to do. Then, note again that there is no place on the Sales Agreement where it promises when Ultimate Exteriors will do your job. Ultimate Exteriors plays hardball and neither Angie's List or the BBB could reason with them. Do you homework and look for a contractor with an A rating."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mn/milaca/ultimate-exteriors-of-minnesota-llc-reviews-393488.htm"},"position":8}]}

Hey, I'm Lance! I became a professional online portrait artist in 2006 after my family was taken from me in a tornado losing my mother, father, brother, and son. Twenty-eight lives were taken as well as all their possessions, like mine. I drew from destroyed photos their families so they could have memorial portraits of them at the funerals and for the rest of time. Since then I have made a living traveling the country doing shows and drawing from photos you email me on line. There is NO GIFT more unique that brings more tears of joy to a loved one's eyes like one of these. Nothing. I've seen it time and time again. I make it affordable to anyone who's ever wanted one of these. Paintings with half the detail of these can cost upwards of $30,000 limiting something like this from hanging in living rooms for families to the rich only. Not anymore. Here's how it works.. Simply email me your favorite picture or pictures to [email protected] with a brief description of what you would like done. The bigger and clearer the picture the better the drawing. I will start an initial sketch right away and take pictures of it and show it to you. Please email them quickly if possible, because the holidays are coming and I get busy. Once the initial sketch is done. I usually take something down on it. It's a lot of work doing the initial sketch. This varies on the cost of the drawing which we will discuss right away. Drawings are usually 175 for 9x12's 225 for 11x14's 275 for 14x17's After this process is done I continue with your art piece sending you photos on line all the way through which many people find a lot of fun. I am also friends on Facebook with almost every person I've ever drawn for as well and would like to be your friend as well if you would like that. I post them on FB at your discretion. It makes me way more legit to people as well. The Prices vary with the art because of the size of the drawing as well as the number of faces. The number of faces DOES NOT double the cost. Usually an extra face is added depending on the size from anywhere between 25 and 50, but I do deals on these more than anything, so please call me about it at .(850) 691-3976
