We recently started our company branching off from our families painting company that has been operating for three generations, so we have experience and expertise in many aspects of interior and exterior work. We can help make your dream a reality through painting of walls and ceilings, to trim and cabinetry. We also do exterior painting of houses, barns, metal roofs, and more! Over the cooler months, we offer painting of furniture, such as dressers and tables. Along with painting we also do interior and exterior cleaning, which can be on a biweekly/monthly schedule, spring/fall deep cleaning, one time cleaning, and post construction clean up. Priming over old exterior paint is fine if the original paint is not cracked, chipped, and peeling. When that is the case, you need to scrape it off and sand first. Primer improves adhesion, seals stains, and provides a consistent base for the new paint. It also enhances the paint's durability and helps achieve a more uniform finish.

It’s best to remove wallpaper rather than paint over it. You should only paint over wallpaper if removing it would damage the wall, the surface is relatively smooth, or there are minimal problem areas—such as slight peeling and lifted seams—that you can fix easily. Painting over wallpaper can save time, but it can create more problems if the wallpaper is in poor condition and you don’t properly prep the area for painting. Depending on the state of the wallpaper, color, and textures could show through, and moisture from the paint could loosen the adhesive, causing unsightly bubbling.

Most primers should dry for 24 hours before painting over them, but some primers that are marketed as quick-drying may be paintable sooner. Check the manufacturer’s instructions on your primer to find out how long you should let it dry before painting.

You should always use a primer before painting over wallpaper to help the paint adhere correctly and get a good finish. Not all wallpaper can be painted over, so do a test patch in an inconspicuous area before painting an entire wall. If the primer and paint don’t adhere, you’ll need to remove the wallpaper, prime the wall, and then paint.

In many cases, you can sleep in a room painted with low-VOC paint on the same day you painted it. You’ll want to give it at least 10 hours to allow any lingering chemicals to dissipate. However, it can still have an odor for about a day after painting, so you may want to add extra ventilation or adjust your sleeping arrangements if you’re particularly sensitive. 

No-VOC paint is generally odorless and won’t emit toxic chemicals, so it’s even safer and more comfortable to sleep near after a fresh paint job.
