"Very pleased with the professionalism and integrity that was demonstrated. There were no hidden surprises. All work, timelines, and financial terms were explained ahead of time. Any questions I had during the process was satisfactorily answered. Care was taken to make sure they left the place the same as when they arrived. "It was a wonderful experience working with Joseph!! I called him to see if he could come out to check my furnace as it was not working, and then cancelled because it kicked back on for a bit. I got home from work and realized it wasnâ t working again so contemplated calling him to come out again but didnâ t as I had lots of other things going on. about 5 minutes later I got a voicemail from him asking if everything was still working and he let me know he was around and could stop by. I called back and he was at my house 15 minutes later. I am a first time homeowner so obviously have no idea what Iâ m doing with a furnace and he was so informative and really just the kindest man. Considering I called out of the blue and he had no idea who I was, i was really impressed."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

High humidity, bad insulation, warmth from sunlight, and poor circulation are all reasons your home’s hotter inside than out. While this is what you want in the colder months, summer can become unbearable if this is a constant. Try to find the cause, but you need to remember that issues like this require a permanent fix (unless you want to bear down during the summer months).

You should plan to change your AC unit's filter every one to three months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. You should also clean the coils at least once per year, but if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies, you might need to clean them more often. Fortunately, many pros will clean the coils and change the filter for you during an inspection, which you should schedule once or twice per year.

For the most part, you should leave your AC fan in “auto” mode so that it only runs during a heating or cooling cycle. Keeping it in this position uses less energy, which equals lower utility bills. However, there are some situations where it’s better to leave your AC fan on, including if you have allergies or there are lots of people in your home.

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances.

Professional duct installers suggest leaving between six and 12 inches of space in front of an air return vent. If you must place furniture in front of a return air vent, try to aim for putting furniture over a floor vent instead of in front of a wall vent, and avoid draping curtains over any vent system.

Yes, but they don’t feel the same as an AC-cooled room. You’ll feel cool, moist air, opposite from an HVAC system that dries the air as it cools. Ventless units also have less tonnage than alternatives like ductless and central air, which means they aren’t as capable of quickly cooling large spaces or circulating cold air.
