I can't imagine that building a new house is ever easy, and I was living abroad at the time my house was being built, which further complicated things. However, Lexar respected that it was to be MY house, so therefore everything should meet with my approval, all while actually dealing with my mother here at home. They were very good about keeping both of us up-to-date on progress, and letting both of us know of issues or problems, and decisions that needed to be made. My beautiful house was completed on-schedule (if not early), and lived up to all of my expectations. Even more than one year after moving in, I am still very happy with the quality of my house. Matt Winter (the guy/general contractor in charge of building my house) is wonderful, and remains very responsive to any little question or possible problem I present him with. My mom enjoyed working with him immensely during construction, and I've only had 1 inquiry that turned out to be an actual problem since moving in. Matt and Lexar are dealing with this problem with as little pain to me as possible, and at no cost to me. Everything else has been my wild imagination, and explained to my satisfaction. In short, I have nothing but praise regarding my experience with Lexar Homes. There has only been once aspect of my experience with Lexar that I was not completely happy with. That is the sales lady's recommendation (before finalizing the contract) that I hire my own contractors for some of the work. She really encouraged this, claiming that customers enjoyed the "sweat factor" that came with doing so, and that it often resulted in less cost. However, perhaps because of the remote location, my mom had a terrible time finding contractors at all, let alone ones that I could afford and would meet scheduling deadlines. After all was said and done, I (and my poor mom) really felt that having Lexar do everything would have been much less stressful, and that any additional cost would have been minimal and more than worth the peace of mind it would have afforded. All in all, if I were to ever build another house, I would be perfectly happy to use Lexar Homes again.
The job was bid. Rather than use a gas powered post hole digger the two workers dug by the holes by hand (which seemed absurd and took lots longer). The workers usually showed up at 10 and left about 3:30. The job took about 10 ten days to complete. The bid was based on a fence to match an existing fence of treated posts and rails. The rails used were cedar not treated. When the company owner was called on this he said his supplier did not offer treated rails. Had we not called the owner the fence would have not turned out to our liking.
As it were the fence boards are now on the inside of the posts/rails rather than the outside. As the boards were being put up a worker told me that because of the uneven ground the fence top would be 'notched' where some boards would be higher than others. I told him that he would have to cut the boards so that the top would be even. Bottom line: the end product was okay but we had to continually monitor in order to have an acceptable result.
An update: It was determined that the fence was build 30' inside our property line. When confronted NW Fence owner flew into a rage and said it was not his problem. Nearly one year later and with a court date approaching NW Fence and his attorney settled for a dollar amount and the complete removal of the fence. The agreement was to fill the post holes with dirt. I noticed the workers putting concrete back into the holes. When I attempted to advise the worker that was not acceptable he continued until I was nearly in his face. 1/2 of the post holes were found to contain concrete chunks. NW Fence was to come on this last Saturday to remove the concrete and fill the holes. At the appointed time we found that the concrete had already been removed. NW Fence and their attorney stated that they did not remove the concrete! I guess there must be a good elf in the neighborhood. At any rate the bottom line is that the fence is gone and the holes filled with dirt.
Let me be very clear: DO NOT HIRE NW FENCE FOR ANY REASON.

If money is no issue, they do nice work. We were warned by 4 families that this builder goes way over budget. We layed out our budget on the table from the start and received a bid of 45000 - 50000 for the downstairs bathroom and garage, and 6 - 7000 for the upstairs bathroom. We were upfront about reports that others said he goes over budget. We proceeded without contract (I know). We gave him full reign to design the downstairs bathroom "within our budget" (tiles, fixtures, layout etc). The downstairs bathroom is well done. We "assumed" this was all being done within the budget which was layed out very clearly and re-emphasized in email communications. The garage is totally unfinished with the exception of electricity. Once the downstairs bathroom was done and garage shell was built, the builder proceeded to the upstairs bathroom. The builder asked us for money as we went. When we were within $3000 of our top budget, we requested a meeting to see if we would indeed be done with $3000 more. The builder brought out a bill for $82,000. We immediately called a halt to all work as we were in over our head with these costs. The builder stated that he would take "some" labor hours off. He also stated that we had requested many changes which ran up costs. This was not true and can be substantiated through documentation. The few changes (2 premade cabinets from Lowes, 1 window replacement, 1 window in the utility room), did not account for $25,000 over budget. We have white siding on the garage when we requested specifically that we match the gray on the house. (We were told that he could not get the siding in gray and that they would paint it to match). This was not done due to budget. All doors remain unpainted. We felt that Shademakers rapidly lost interest and quality of work deminished when the budget was called into play. We have uneven tile on the floor in the upstairs bathroom. We have painting and tiling to do (which we said we would do, when we noticed the quality of work was deminishing). A "quick fix" to the joining of the tile floor and upstairs landing wood floors which is not to our liking ( a wide "gold" metal plate (?)). We requested NO plastic fixtures and received plastic fixtures in the shower upstairs. We used our own cabinets, requested a steel tub with porcelain covering, but was told fiberglass was a good way to go. We trusted and lost. We settled for $72000 which was WAY MORE than generous on our part. We have a white garage attached to a gray house and an unfinished bathroom. We did not hold him to the original bid as we were done dealing with him nor to a desire to have work completed. The builder stated that he realized that we were over budget before he even started upstairs, thus costs needed to be contained. . Would be great if money is NO issue. They love to design and actually do a good job Would probably finish to the end if money is NO issue. Does not work with budget. We were warned by 4 families and thought to lay it out in the beginning would help. It didn't. Is quick to say changes were made by the owner, so keep all documentation. If you choose to go with this company, get a contract for sure and check costs each week. If a budget is needed...don't even try We were way too trusting. We had them pour and finish a slab for a shop building. They did a great job in less then ideal weather conditions. They were friendly and professional.

"Josh has always been prompt and communicative with every interaction we've had. I initially got in touch with him about new construction design questions, and when we discovered that our current home porch posts had rotted through due to faulty design by the original home designer, Josh jumped into action. He had his engineer and construction crew to our door within 24 hours to take a look and put together a plan. He took my design ideas and brought them to life. He was transparent about all parts of the cost (to include his profit), and gave us to option to lower the cost by hauling away debris and painting the porch (which we were more than willing to do). Any delays with the work were met with a phone call and followup email if he didn't get through to either my husband or I immediately, and the construction crew did very high quality work. We were beyond pleased with his customer service! We will definitely use Revival Home Designs in the future when we decide to build our forever home."

FAQs for treehouse building projects in Warden, WA
The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.
One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.
Typically, it’s more affordable to buy an existing home than it is to build a new one. New construction loan interest rates tend to be higher than interest rates for traditional mortgages. Additionally, the cost of materials is likely higher when building a new home than it was when an existing home was built (unless it’s a very new one). You’re also paying for all new appliances, finishes, permits, inspections, and connections for water, gas, and electricity.
Knowing if you need an architect for your project can be tricky, especially if you've never worked with one before. In general, small remodeling projects like replacing fixtures typically don't require the expertise of an architect. However, larger projects, like moving walls or adding an addition to your home, should include an architect to ensure the project is structurally sound.
The cost to build a detached garage for two cars costs about $26,400 on average. Prices range from $19,200 to $33,600, depending on your location, the garage size, height, materials, and site prep required. Additional cost factors include any plumbing, electrical wiring, and insulation. If you need to build a concrete foundation for a new detached garage, you can expect to pay $1,000 to $8,600 for this essential addition.
