Anything that might have been exposed to fumigation chemicals should be washed before use. Wipe down and sanitize surfaces like countertops and tables, and wash all utensils (or take care to store them in an airtight box beforehand), as well as anything else that could find its way into someone’s mouth, like kid or pet toys. 

To remove dog or cat urine from a microfiber couch, use a safe solution for your furniture based on its cleaning code. A good option is to use a wet cleaning method, then apply baking soda to the stain, and then follow that by vacuuming thoroughly. Remember that this vacuum type does not work on all carpet types. Wool can shrink with this method, so always check the cleaning instructions from your carpet’s manufacturer.

Leaving pee on a mattress for an extended period of time will make it harder to remove the moisture, increase the likelihood of unappealing stains forming, and make the urine odor linger for a longer time. Ideally, you should start cleaning a urine-soaked mattress immediately. You can start by spraying a 1:1 solution of white distilled vinegar and water over the stain and then blotting it out. Then, sprinkle baking soda over the affected area, let it sit for 8 to 10 hours, and then vacuum it out. If the issue persists, you might need to dispose of your mattress and replace it.

It’s not necessary to tip an upholstery cleaner, and it’s usually not expected by the professionals in the industry. However, tipping between 10% and 20% of your total cleaning cost is a nice gesture and a good way to show your appreciation. You might consider tipping if the cleaner gets a particularly stubborn stain out without damaging the material, or if they go above and beyond to clean an antique piece of furniture using special methods to keep your furniture safe from damage.
