"I have had two issues since they installed the new sump pump and irrigation. Issue number one was water still getting passed the new concrete. The other issue is that the new concrete was not level at all which has caused issues with the new flooring I installed. However, their customer service is top notch and will work hard to take care of you."

"While such work is not cheap, Terra Firma stayed with us throughout, including during some delays based on obtaining permits here in Oregon, so that wasn't their fault. The work was outstanding, with a three-person crew putting in three very busy days in cold and wet weather to drive 17 reinforcing titanium piers around roughly half the perimeter of the foundation, with most of them extending clear down to bedrock. They also managed to raise both sliding corners of the house, from slopes of about 1.5" (4 cm) on either corner, back to their original level, which amazed us (we were hoping to have just stabilization, with the possibility of raising the foundation just partway). The house sits on a very steep slope leading down to a creek, and years of slow but noticeable "sliding down the hill" are now not only corrected, but the whole foundation is now as level as when it was constructed 25 years ago. Perhaps needless to say, we're thrilled with the results. Contact Mike O'Brien at their Roseburg office near Eugene to get started: the company will do laser-specific measurements of your building to see if its base is off at all. The staff also does NOT engage in high-pressure sales tactics, so rest easy if you have him or someone else come over for an evaluation."

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

Concrete leveling is absolutely worth it if you have sunken concrete slabs and want to restore them to level, especially if the slab is part of your home foundation. Concrete leveling is less than half the price of replacing concrete sidewalks, patios, walkways, and pool decks, and it’s about a quarter of the cost of replacing a foundation. If you also treat the underlying problem, it can be a worthwhile and permanent solution.

Generally speaking, push piers—or steel piers—are the best option for underpinning, as they reach down to solid bedrock to find support for your foundation rather than relying on soil, which could be subject to the same issues as the soil directly below your foundation. However, the best underpinning method for your home depends on your location, how far down the bedrock is, and the type of soil in your area. Helical piers are usually the best option for sandy soil or in areas where the bedrock is too deep to use steel piers.

Mudjacking can be an expensive foundation repair process, but in many cases, it’s well worth the investment. This is especially true if you’re lifting a portion of sunken foundation slab back into place. In that case, mudjacking can help avoid major structural damage and even home collapse by restoring the integrity of your structure with minimally invasive procedures. Mudjacking a concrete patio, walkway, or sidewalk can be worthwhile because it removes tripping hazards and makes your outdoor area more aesthetically appealing.

A good slump height really depends on the project, but there is a use for nearly all slump levels. For example, low slumps are best in projects that require structure, such as curbs and roads. High slumps often require additional reinforcement, but they flow more freely into hard-to-reach spaces.

Mudjacking is usually reserved for light-duty slabs, like patios, driveways, and sidewalks. However, it can be an effective way to lift garage slabs and concrete around the perimeter of the home, which could harm your foundation if it’s not done properly. The risk of damage is why having a professional mudjacking company carry out the work is important. This type of slab or foundation repair is relatively inexpensive, especially if you consider that a DIY job requires that you pay to rent the necessary equipment.
