"We do understand this customer's frustration. We did all we could do to test the outlet, and while we found nothing wrong with the outlet, until the sump pump acted up we could not be sure. Replacing the outlet and bubble cover was a lot less expensive than sending an electrician back. So as a matter of company policy we will replace a $20 GFI outlet while we are at the home when there are questions or concerns. There was no added labor since everything was done within the hour minimum that we charge for the call. It was a lot less expensive than to have another service call."
"Customer called because she had no AC from her heat pump system. Our tech found the source of the problem was bad wiring and wrong thermostat. The customer had been sold the wrong thermostat by the big box store. The tech fixed the thermostat wiring and installed the new thermostat provided by the customer with a caveat that the thermostat needed to be replaced before winter. The thermostat was not a heat pump thermostat and did not provide for emergency heat. Emergency heat is needed when outside temperatures are extremely cold and/or the heat pump fails. We charged a diagnostic at a reduced rate, $99 instead of $109 for that area. We charged $175 for installing the thermostat provided. We did a wire repair which we did not charge for and a complete check of her system which we did not charge for. This complete system check is a maintenance service. She was a new home owner and the system had not been checked since she bought the home. Our invoice was $274.00 plus tax. Customer was provided a service invoice with this information and itemized pricing for work charged."
I would have a heat pump again in a heartbeat, it's wonderful !! And I would only trust RENAUD. Don't go elsewhere!!
The whole system is quiet and efficient, joints were sealed tight. However, in hindsight, and here's where I downgraded them, I would have pressed more for their own recommendations about air supply location. They did present a floor diagram showing recommended locations, which was ok but not entirely satisfactory. To their credit however, this is an old house (circa 1920's) so there are limitations. However, the heat pump siting still gives me a negative feeling about them. They asked me where it should go -- I wish I would have prodded them for a suggestion, or insisted on a different spot and let them worry about running tubing, etc. The reason I complain about the location is because it sits immediately under the dining room window, and the sucker is huge. I suggested a relocation, for which they would charge me $300. So now there it sits.
I'm not a professional HVAC person and don't know that much about it. Why should it be up to me? They are the ones who should give constant guidance and suggestions (I believe the term is handholding).. Is Trane a better system than any other one out there? I can't answer that, nor is that what this review is intended to cover. To their credit, I did request 4 quotes for systems including Trane, Carrier, and one other. Renaud was the only one who recommended a breaker box upgrade (around $2K if memory serves me correctly), and I needed/wanted it done anyway. Nordstroms has a great reputation for customer service. I think a lot of businesses could learn from them. If I was an HVAC installer, I would call the customer after a month or two and ask how the system is working, any problems, questions, etc. Not a word from Renaud.
