"I am very pleased with the work Joe's Yard Service did on my landscaping. They did the job within 2 days of discussing the work with them and then were done within a day. It looks beautiful and I'll remember them next Spring as well as any other outside jobs I need doing."

"Hired cutting edge to re-stain my kitchen cabinets and to repaint the entire kitchen. I am pleased with the work they did and would highly recommend to friends and family. They communicate well and even helped me with recommendations that I’m very happy with. The entire crew was on it. Reach out to them for all your painting and construction needs."

"Great service and knowledge. First, they responded to the HA request the next day. Scheduling and evaluation was simple and direct and prompt. Arborist doing the eval was very helpful in our walk through of our trees. He was clearly tree-centric. Bid offered before he left. Very good value. Second, scheduling the service was again responsive and simple. Just a few days between contact, scheduling and service. Third, they called the next day after service to be sure everything was completed and to my satisfaction. The crew doing the work was attentive and clearly understood the goals. The worked fast, but completely. I rated the quality at 4.5 only because there was some minor clean up issues. Finally, I've used Top Tree two times prior to joining HA. I was please to see HA had them as a recommended provider. I would use Top Tree again."

"I am impressed by the professionalism of the workers who took care of a nasty job with a maple tree stump growing thru a chain link fence. The 2 worked quickly and efficiently. Love the "grindings" in the garden."

"Carlos was professional and quick with his team. I had several arborvitaes that were overgrown, and I was concerned about keeping them healthy while also cutting them back significantly. They handled the project to my request without harming the plants, they left the area clean, and the work was completed in a single day."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

Unfortunately, if you cut the top off a palm tree, it will die. Instead of budding or branching out, the top begins to slowly rot. That's why having a professional tree trimming at least twice a year is a good idea. If you don’t have experience with trimming your palm tree, you might accidentally cut the top off, leaving a dead and rotting tree in your wake.

Poison oak is similar to poison ivy in that it's in the same family of plants. Poison oak is identifiable by its rounded-off leaves and hairy leaf texture. Tree-climbing varieties live primarily in western states while low-growing poison oak bushes occupy the eastern states. Treat poison oak like poison ivy to get rid of it permanently.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.
