Customers say: Quick response

"Sergiys provided me with an excellent exterior painting job on my older home and garage. Every interaction was positive, and he gave me his expert opinion on how best to approach the project. How he was going to go about doing the best job for my project, priming, scraping, caulking, etc.. I was flexible with my timeline since I wanted it done correctly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Serygi for a painting job, whether it was exterior or interior. Thanks Sergiys and family!!"

"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

"Highly recommend! Sergey responded to my request for a quote right away. He came out exactly when he said he would and was very reasonably priced. When it was time to paint, he arrived exactly on time again, and he used high quality paint. Super friendly, and I'll definitely call him for future jobs. He does all kinds of other jobs, and my next project with him will be some drywall repair."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Most spray paints are oil-based, meaning you will need a solvent to dissolve them, like paint thinner, lacquer thinner, or acetone. While solvents can be useful in removing paint, they are also very flammable and require the use of a respirator. Beyond that, these products may smear paint and cannot be used on all surfaces.

Removing paint from brick can have both aesthetic and practical value. Some people prefer the timeless look of bare brick, making it worthwhile to remove old paint layers. Brick also lasts longer when unpainted, as paint traps moisture, causing the brick to deteriorate more quickly. If your brick walls are already in bad shape, stripping the paint off might do more harm than good.

The best way to remove lead paint is by wet hand sanding and removing all dust and residue with a HEPA vacuum. Professionals may also strip and scrape lead-based paint with a paint scraper. In some cases, you may choose to have a pro encapsulate or enclose your lead-based paint surface by covering it with a sealant or a new material. You may also choose to replace the material altogether.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

WD-40 is an effective way to remove glue and other sticky residue from many surfaces, including wood. Spray the WD-40 on the area, allow the product to sit for a few minutes, then carefully wipe away the residue. As with other adhesive removal methods, test the WD-40 on an inconspicuous spot first to ensure it won’t damage the finish.
