He was to take the fixtures out and put the new fixtures in and that was the plumbing. He gave me a verbal estimate. I asked for a detailed quote in writing but he never did. When the job was said and done his bill was way higher than that. He goes, well, you put tile so we had to take the toilet off and put it back and we needed a plumber for that. I asked what happened to all of the fixtures because they were pretty new fixtures and I wanted to keep them because I can give them to people that have rentals or use them else where. No, you are not getting them back, I already got rid of them. He just gave me a total bill. What I didn't like about him was he would have his brother come and check and the brother would be roaming in the garage trying to turn the water connection off and ended up searching for it, searching for everything else, what was in the garage to scout and take. I stood there so that he never took anything. The other thing was that when his people came, they were Hispanic people and they would bring all of their buddies into the house. So there would be 4 or 5 that would visit and they had no business in plumbing they were just there with their friend who was working. That's a safety issue, a security issue. When you are home all alone and you have 4 or 5 guys just walking through your home come to visit their friend. I finally had to kick them out. I said, this is not visiting time, it is work and why are you coming to my house to visit him, you can visit him else where. I didn't like the fellow. He was harsh, abrupt, rude, not friendly, not professional, did not bother to give a written estimate even though we asked for one. I wouldn't use him again. He wouldn't answer calls. He was rude, obnoxious, not a person to use. He put a bar in the shower, a bar to hold so you don't slip, the little edges on it that are supposed to be glued down are absolutely loose. They haven't been put down. He said, just go get some glue and just glue it down. He didn't even finish his job. Every time we take a shower, the little knobs on the end are loose and just roam all over. We have to live with it."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/wa/thorp/ross-plumbing-reviews-6420217.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Rebath of Tricities","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"WA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Joanne F."},"reviewBody":"It was a total nightmare overall dealing with the Bayses. The contractors were all nice and helpful and did all they could to make it right, so the finished product is good although not perfect. Was told when I signed the contract with Carla that the whole remodel would take 2-3 days. The first day the first contractor arrived he told me it would take a lot longer, at least 5 days, which wasn't a problem for me. The demo and installation of the shower and fixtures went just fine. I then watched him open the box for the glass shower doors and they were not the style I had ordered. Since that was the first mistake and I didn't want to wait for the correct doors to be ordered, I told him to go ahead and install the doors he had, which he did. He then started to paint the walls and called me in to look at the color because he thought it didn't match well next to the shower surround, which it didn't. The color was not the color I had picked out and was shown on a sample. It was not acceptable because it looked awful. I called Carla and told her the paint color looked nothing like the sample I was shown and she argued with me over the phone that it was the color I picked so if I wanted another color I would have to go buy it myself, which I did ($75). Next was the flooring install. The contractor rolled it out on my patio to do the cutting, measured it, and then re-measured the floor to ensure it had been measured correctly before the flooring was ordered, which it had not. Carla measured everything the day I signed the contract and she measured wrong. I called her and she did admit to that mistake and did order more flooring, which I had to wait for so Marv (contractor) stopped what he was doing, went to another job, and then came back a week or so later once the flooring came in. He installed the flooring. Originally I was going to paint my existing vanity and therefore only ordered the granite top and faucet for that vanity. When Marv went to place the granite countertop he discovered that the hole for the sink had been cut out in the wrong place, again because Carla measured incorrectly. Another call to Carla and then Carl resulted in an argument over the phone. I was told they were not going to order another countertop and the only thing they could do would be to order another sink that would not be an undermount, but would rather sit on top. They were both yelling at me over the phone about it wasn't her measuring mistake because of the style of my vanity, which Marv said was ridiculous because any contractor who would have measured would have actually opened the cupboard and drawer in the vanity to see exactly where the hole should be cut, which is not what Carla did when she measured. The conversations with the Bayses ended with me thinking they were going to order another granite countertop since that was what I demanded. I was given a timeline for the order to go through and after not hearing back for a longer period I called and was told they were waiting for the sink to come in. When Marv came back a few weeks later he told me they did not order a new countertop, but rather just an over mount sink. I looked at the sink, which I had not picked out, and it was hideous so I told him not to install it. I called Carla again and again she yelled at me that there was no way there were going to order new granite since it is so expensive and my only other choice is to order a new vanity that will fit the countertop. At that point I was ready to have the job stopped and find another contractor to finish, but Marv was great, did a good job when he could, and I really wanted him to finish the job because he was on my side the whole time as he was sharing stories with me about all the other problems that had occurred with other clients and that he was looking for another job because he felt Carla and Carl didn't care at all about doing good construction, they only cared about getting as many sales as possible and then doing the jobs as quickly as possible. I agreed to buy a new vanity and waited another month or so to get it installed. It was custom made and when it arrived it had not been made correctly so some adjustments had to be made. Marv had left the company by that time so I had another contractor who didn't know what to do so he called his supervisor who arrived and he figured out a way to fix it. They were both here for 6 hours instead of the one hour it should have taken. Then when he went to install the faucet, which was supposed to fit (of course), it did not fit. One of the guys went to Home Depot and exchanged the faucet for one that would fit, installed it, installed the mirror, and was very gracious about the whole mess. In addition, the toilet that was ordered was the wrong color as well and had to be changed by me, there was no transition piece between the flooring in the bathroom and the carpet right outside the bathroom, so I had to request that, and molding was only ordered for around the floor and not for the door frame, which is a usual thing to do, so I had to request that as well and paid for it myself and it wasn't painted. The first time I took a shower I noted that one of the doors did not shut all the way and I still have not remedied that. I would NEVER hire this Rebath franchise again and have passed the work around. When I went to buy the new paint and was explaining what happened to an employee there, she told me she had heard there were problems with these people. Only if I had known before signing the contract."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/wa/kennewick/rebath-of-tricities-reviews-7689553.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Marshall's Hardwood Floors","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"WA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Kelly S."},"reviewBody":"Horrible. These guys either don't know how to do a good job or they didn't care to. One of the problems with Angie's List in the Yakima area is there are very few provider reviews, so when we decided to talk to someone about refinishing our floors, we hit the yellow pages. The ad for Marshall's said they'd been serving Central WA since 1957 so I gave them a call. We set up an appointment with Fred. He showed up when he said he would and gave us what we felt was a reasonable bid. (I gave them an "F" because the final product wasn't worth the price) They could get started fairly soon and, since we really didn't know who else to call, we gave him the job without getting other bids. He struck us as someone who'd forgotten more about hardwood floors than a lot of people know. Of course, Fred doesn't do the work. That's left up to Fred's son Doug and two other men on their crew. Things started off ahead of schedule. We hired some guys to move our furniture the day before the start date. Fred called early that morning and said they were dropping off one of the crew members to get started sanding the edges. It was lucky I was there, because I live in another town a couple hours drive away. We plan to live in the Yakima home when we retire. When they dropped the guy off, Fred and the rest of the crew came in to have a look. This is the only time I saw or spoke to foreman Doug until we paid them off. Fred called about a week later and said they were finishing up with the stripping part of the project. He called to discuss repair alternatives in one area. I took the lower cost alternative and, ironically, this is one of the best looking areas on the new floors. About a week after that I called Fred back for a status report. He told me they had put on the first coat that day and were going to decide the next day whether to try to do two coats that day (a Friday) or to do the third coat on the following Monday. I asked him to call back after they decided. No callback. My wife and I had been planning to go over and check out the project anyway, so we drove over that Friday evening. We found the floors hadn't been refinished at all: they were about half done with the final sanding. We also discover they were storing their sanders in the bathrooms that had been recently remodeled rather than on a nearby porch. They'd also been mixing their putty in our sinks and hadn't bothered to clean them up (actually they never did). We found it a little unnerving that Fred was giving us bad information, but decided he'd probably gotten an optimistic report from the crew. I gave Fred the opportunity to call me the following Monday, but he didn't. I called him on Tuesday. He seemed defensive ("your floors were in much worse shape than we thought," etc) and didn't really explain the discrepancy or why he didn't call me back. He did say the first two coats would be applied later that week and the third the following Monday. We went to Yakima again that weekend and the floors did have finish on them. The work was horrible (more on that later). Two specific problems were a bad board and the putty: when I was younger and had limited funds, I used white wood putty to fix the surface before I painted the floors. Marshall's just sanded the suface and put finish on it. One area looked like someone had splattered white paint on it. I called Fred that Monday and let him know we weren't happy with the job. He said they'd look at the board and the putty, but assured me the finished floors would be much nicer after application of the final coat and the floors were buffed. Next weekend: I'll admit the floors looked better: on a scale of 1 to 10 they went from 1 to 2. They did a half-hearted job of "fixing" putty and totally ignored the bad board. The finish is a disaster: there are areas where the finish is pooled up right next to areas that seem to have been missed at least once. Our dining room looks like someone spilled a can of pop on it. That's one of the things I'd mentioned to Fred in my earlier complaint call. There are trails of finish drops, finish slopped onto the quarterround, etc. etc. Marshall's poor quality of work was matched by their lack of professionalism: They moved our stove to get to the 220 service and didn't move it back or plug it in. They burned out another 220 circuit breaker and didn't bother to tell us. They left cigarette butts in our yard and putty on our porch as well as the sinks. But my favorite is: someone wearing boots tracked finish across our non-hardwood kitchen floor. This is no big deal as we're going to remodel the kitchen, but Marshall's didn't know that. We'd already hired the movers to put our house back together and we had a large group of family showing up the following weekend. There was really no time to fix it and we didn't think Marshall was able, let alone willing, to try. We decided to just pay them off with as little drama as possible. While we were doing that, Doug mentioned a special floor care product and said he'd drop some off at the house. He didn't. I told him it had been pumped a year or tow ago. I asked why he doesn't just pull the toilet and run the snake down the line. Didn't want to do that. He finally tried the snake down the bathtub drain. Didn't work. After uncovering the septic lid and opened the tank He thought the stoppage was in the baffles of the tank and needed to uncover the that portion of the tank. More digging.I asked again for him why does he pull the toilet and run the snake down the pipe. He decided to snake out the sink which is connected to the toilet drain and it cleared the plug. During the process of opening the tank the handle on the lid broke requiring replacement. The serviceman said the tank should be pumped. So I agreed. They came out to pump the next day and told me it was a 1000 gal. tank. Cliff's septic Service had pumped it the last time and said it was a 500 gal tank. They insisted it was 1000 gal. I called Cliff's and they said it was a 500 gal tank. After arguing I decide to pay them to get them out of my yard. I will have someone come and examine the tank. I will report more later. Now I can go in my yard and fix the flower bed that was destroyed. "},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/wa/yakima/action-rooter-service-reviews-6424271.htm"},"position":10}]}

The cost of home remodeling is $50,000 for the average homeowner. However, this cost can range anywhere from $3,000 for a small projectto $170,000 for a whole home remodel. Factors like project size, location, and room type all affect your overall cost. For example, bedroom remodeling costs are one of the least expensive projects, costing about $1,500 to $5,500 per bedroom. However, a kitchen remodel has a significant cost range, totaling anywhere from $14,500 to over $70,000.
The cost to refinish a bathtub is $490 for most homeowners. However, this cost can range from $200 to $1,000 or more, depending on your tub's material and condition.
For example, enamel and cast-iron bathtubs are pretty straightforward to refinish, costing between $350 and $600. However, if you have an antique claw-foot tub, you can expect to pay between $500 and $1,200 for refinishing costs due to the care and complexity needed.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
The best time of year to remodel your home is late winter and early spring when fewer homeowners are thinking about projects and pros are more available. Also consider the type of remodel you want and plan ahead as much as possible. For example, the summer is a great time of year to update your fireplace, but winter is a better option for fixing foundations and building room additions.
Refinishing a bathtub is worth it if your tub has minor damage or is a color that you don't like. The cost of replacing a bathtub is more expensive than simply refinishing one, averaging around $5,300. It's more cost-effective to refinish your tub if you can, but it also gives you the look of a new bathtub without having to replace the whole thing.
