"We’re building a new 1000 SF home and these guys did a great job. Easy to communicate with, showed up when they said they would and knocked the entire job out in a day. City insulation inspection passed without any issues the next day. SPF was even kind enough to upgrade to higher R-value insulation in some of our 2x8 walls at no added cost. Highly recommend!"

"I was given several recommendations from Angi list, the most professional one of the 4 contacts I received was from David of EVERGREENPRO INSULATION. I needed to have a couple of interior walls insulated for soundproofing done. David was responsive, answered all my questions and gave me a reasonable quote. The other companies I talked to quotes were inline with Davids but the customer service just wasn't there like Davids. I even had one company tell me my project was too small for them to do..... Really? The next insulation project I need done I will just call David from EVERGREENPRO INSULATION and give them the job. A great job done by David and Jamie and would recommend and use them again."

"Sergio and his crew timely completed a complex insulation installation. Near Me Insulation LLC gets highest marks for flexibility in terms of traveling from Burlington to Glacier and completing the work with the highest skill level. The inside of my Ski Barn in Glacier has a height of 35 feet at the peak--several rooms with outside walls needed insulation. Sergio and crew also wrapped pipes and replaced window flashing with great care and expertise. Highly recommended contractor--reasonable price."

"Daniel was pleasant to talk to on the phone and got my job scheduled almost immediately because I was in a hurry. His workers that did my job showed up on time and were very courteous and clean. They did a fantastic job of vacuuming out all of our rat soiled blown in insulation in the attic. I asked them to make sure and remove all the droppings because I need to go up there and seal. The 1500 sqft job took 2 men about 3.5 hours and they cleaned up after themselves. I would hire them again happily."

"

I own a 1937 farmhouse in Whatcom County. I had concerns about the insulation in the crawl space and the attic. The owner of RGS came to my home and spent an hour inspecting the areas I was concerned about after which he sat down with me, explained what was needed and gave me a bid to do the work. The owner is as professional, knowledgeable and courteous as any business owner I have ever met. He quoted me a great price and gave me the highest quality of service I could have hoped for. I was so happy with RGS that I asked him to inspect the crawl spaces of two rental properties I own in Bellingham. I highly recommend that you ask RGS for to bid on any of your insulation needs. You will not be disappointed.

"I intended to insulate an one car garage and the attic of the whole house. They were prompt to provide an estimate and very professional and honest on suggesting best solution (ended up with not doing the attic for now). The job was completed fast and really happy with the result. The crew was friedly and respectfull. Kept the place clean after all the blow in insulation."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

Whether it’s better to screw or glue drywall depends on your specific budget and project timeline. Professional drywall installers are more likely to use screws and fasteners than adhesives, but it takes longer. But if you are DIYing your drywall installation, glue is a perfectly fine choice if you’re willing to pay extra for adhesive.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

Both plaster and drywall are durable wall finishes, but they differ significantly in installation, cost, performance, and aesthetics.

Installation & Cost: Drywall installation is faster and more affordable, typically costing $1.50 to $3 per square foot. It uses premade sheets, making it a more accessible DIY project. Plastering is a labor-intensive craft that requires specialized skills, pushing costs to $2 to $10 per square foot. It involves applying a wet paste over a lath framework.

Durability & Performance: Plaster is generally more durable, longer-lasting, and provides superior soundproofing. It is also a better insulator, which can help reduce energy costs. Drywall is easier to remove for future renovations.

Aesthetics: Drywall provides a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or texture. Plaster offers a high-end, naturally textured look that can hide imperfections and is often preferred for achieving a classic or historic aesthetic.

Which is better? The choice depends on your priorities. Drywall is ideal for those prioritizing a lower upfront cost, faster installation, and DIY potential. Plaster is the better option for a higher-end project where durability, soundproofing, and a unique, premium finish are more important than the initial cost.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.
