"Rocc was so amazing to work with. He helped us with our kitchen renovation which entailed demolishing our old kitchen, hauling it away, creating a plan with an extensively detailed shopping list for our IKEA cabinets, and building and installing the new cabinets. Our house is over 100 years old with zero right angles which makes everything difficult but Rocc made sure everything he touched was done to perfection. Heâ s super friendly and easy to work with and each step of this process was so seamless. Out of the many people weâ ve worked with for our home renovation Rocc was a standout. We will definitely have him again for more projects!"

Pre Made Cabinets questions, answered by experts

Solid wood is the most common material for cabinet bases. It’s a popular choice because it’s durable and will hold up over time. Oak, maple, cherry, hickory, and pine are all types of solid wood that can be used to build cabinet bases. Other options include plywood, medium-density fiberboard, and other types of manufactured lumber, but they need to be sealed properly to avoid swelling, separating, and delamination from moisture.

It is typically cheaper to buy stock or semi-custom cabinets than to build custom ones. The price difference is significant:

  • Custom Cabinets: Cost between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot. This price is affected by materials, size, design complexity, and door styles. For instance, a simple slab door's materials might cost $60-$70, while a decorative mullioned glass door could be $100-$200.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: Cost between $150 and $700 per linear foot.

  • Stock Cabinets: Cost between $100 and $400 per linear foot.

While buying pre-built cabinets is more cost-effective, building custom cabinets allows for full modification to fit unique spaces, such as rooms with high ceilings or unusual layouts, which stock options cannot accommodate.

Typically, a medicine cabinet should be installed about 60 to 72 inches above the floor. This height ensures that it's easily accessible for most individuals while allowing for proper visibility and convenience. However, the ideal height may vary based on individual preferences and the average eye level of the users in your household.

When it comes to kitchen cabinets, most homeowners opt for stock cabinetry. Not only is stock cabinetry more affordable than custom or semi-custom options, but it’s also typically readily available for a quick installation. RTA cabinets are popular types of kitchen cabinets as well, but often aren’t as durable and can be difficult to build.

Frameless cabinets fit the space-saving, minimalist attributes of European-style kitchens more than face frame models. That also makes them a good pick for apartments and dorms, as well as any more modern-style kitchen.
