"Wow, these guys are fast! They were able to get me a quote within a day of making the request and gave me a flat rate with no BS. They even worked with me when I had to adjust my bid based on feedback from my city inspector, and got me the adjusted price back the same day. I'll definitely be calling them when I need to get some new handrails on my roof!"

"Workers were on time and delivered our fencing needs as quoted. As return customers and especially as Seniors, we're quite pleased with how polite, respectful and how trustworthy Goodrow's was once again. We're happily retaining them for a deck project and looking at some additional projects later this year exclusively with Goodrow's!"

"OMG I love my new fence, they came when they said they would. They did the work, cleaned up all the mess and I am so excited to allow my large breed dog outside now. Not to worry if the kids next door will tease or bother me or my dog again. 6 feet high and privacy slates is the way to go, I am bragging to everyone I know, LOVE LOVE LOVE my fence and the price was prefect. Thank you, Duke for doing such a wonderful job. I will call you again if I need to upgrade my chainlink."

"I couldn't imagine a more dedicated construction team than these two. Have never seen somebody put so much time and effort into making sure everything is done just right through all phases of the project. Extremely communicative. Very professional. And just all around, great humans to work with. They put down protective floor coverings anywhere that they were walking or working in my house. They put up plastic wall barricades to keep the dust out of the other parts of the home that they weren't working on. They kept us informed about everything they were doing each day and showed us their progress at the end of the day."

"Inline Security did a great job repairing our gate at Healing House. They took the time to answer all of my questions, provided a thorough consultation, and were flexible in scheduling around our operations. Their pricing was fair, and the work was completed professionally and on time. I would definitely recommend them."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.

To maintain custom or fabricated metal structures and extend their lifespan and appearance, perform regular cleaning, apply rust prevention treatments, and use protective coatings.
