"Alan is a trustworthy guy who wants to make his customers happy.  For big jobs, he works with a friend, and both of them together can do essentially anything (including basic electrical and basic plumbing).  We first hired him to remodel our bathroom.  It included tearing a wall down and expanding it so a bath could fit in the room.  They also had to tear down a 150 year old brick chimney in the process.  They installed a new vanity, built a shelving unit into the wall and put in the lighting.  The finished product was good.  The room was not square, but the house is built in 1836, so I don't know if anyone could have done that.  
Next, we had him install a railing on our stairs.  This came out great no complaints.  
He then installed a bedroom with laminate flooring and also the stair landing.  This job was not as clean, some of the floor trim was not edged and the lines of the wood running from the bedroom to the stair landing were not flush.  These negatives though were a result of a positive - that is, for this job, he worked from dusk until sun up because he had other jobs/commitments later in the week.  He is an extremely hard worker.  For this job we traded the finishing touches for timely completion - and overall the finished product was still good.  
The last major job was the sheetrocking in between our beams downstairs. 
In most jobs, there was a little clean up I had to do - pieces of wood from the carpentry of the bathroom left in a crawlspace, horsehair plaster or sheetrock left crumbled on the floor.  They forgot to include thresholds in the bathroom and bedroom jobs as well.  HOWEVER,  whenever I spoke with Alan about any of this, anything I had not already done, he came over promptly and fixed/completed/cleaned it.  He was reachable and kind and we trusted him.  He said a few times that he wanted to make sure we were happy.  
We called him on two or three separate occasions because he is a hard worker, he is trustworthy and his price is reasonable.  We would call him again for sure.

"First of all, I tried to get good pictures to show how well they did, but our house is a deep(ish) red color so maybe it's hard to tell. We had a lot of black something (Mold?) growing on our siding and we wanted it off. It looked bad and my husband said it's bad for the paint so we hired No Grit to pressure wash the house based on a recommendation from a friend. I was thrilled to find out they were available to do this so late in the year; their customer service is excellent! "We are extremely delighted and completely satisfied with our new roof and the workmanship provided by J & L.  Starting with John who was knowledgeable and helpful during the estimate process.  He answered all of our questions and put us at ease about such an expensive undertaking.  His product offering was excellent with high quality shingles and warranty.  We had four estimates provided as comparison.  One was far more expensive and the others were similar, but we feel we got the best in workmanship and that's what counts.  He and his crew showed up on time every day and put in a hard day's work.  They work as a team and there is no goofing off.  The crew was polite and answered any of our concerns as the work progressed. When they began tearing off the roof they found the reason there had been leaks from the shoddy job done by the original roofer and corrected everything. Because we had this done in early June they had to work between the rain drops. We were never left exposed as they covered all their work carefully and we had no issues.  Each night they cleaned up and disposed of all waste and swept our large driveway area and ensured there were no nails or sharp objects to protect not only us but our dog. Just before the roofing was started we had the house painted and they took pains not to cause any damage to the walls by covering the area where they were working.Because we have a flat area near the entrance, they put in standing seam metal roofing to aid with ice dams,etc. They worked this in beautifully with the shingles and it just flows evenly to the viewer. John's company offers many other home improvement services.We would definitely hire him again.
