"Thanks for your valuable feedback! Here is our side of the story: *The carpet was in stock when we first priced out the project back in November. However, Mrs. [Member Name Removed] would not proceed until we beat the price of a competitor, which we obliged. *During the negotiation period, which lasted several weeks, the carpet that we held was put back into circulation and sold by the manufacturer. By the time we received the 50% deposit, the carpet was on backorder. The ETA we were provided was January 2017 and this information was passed along to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] in a timely and transparent manner. *We received an update in January pushing the ETA back to February citing a delay in transport. We passed this along to Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. *Mrs. [Member Name Removed] did check in with us for an update in February and we obliged. *Finally the material arrived and we scheduled installation. We did this expertly and without flaw (please see our A grade for quality above). Our installers reported that Mrs. [Member Name Removed] reminded them several times about the delay and made it clear that she was going to make the installation as uncomfortable as possible. *Upon completion, we followed up as part of our normal protocol. When learning it was me on the phone, Mrs. [Member Name Removed] replied "I'm done with you", and hung up. Afraid that I was going to be stiffed for the $4k balance, I called back both the cell and home phone numbers I was provided. When it was clear Mrs. [Member Name Removed] was ignoring me, I ceased trying to make contact. Needless to say, we will no longer be working with Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. We went above and beyond the call of duty on this one providing a high quality installation at a better price than any of our competitors. Every project we take on is approached as a team effort between vendor and customer. It's abundantly clear that customers like Mrs. [Member Name Removed] have no interest in working with you. Instead she viewed us as "the help" from the beginning, and when she didn't get her way, she made it as hard as possible to perform our job. It's a shame that this negativity is rewarded with a prominent showing on our PUBLIC profile and has dirtied our otherwise flawless reputation and A grade."
There were two installers, one very experienced and the other was pretty new, I think. It was a pretty tricky installation; both staircases take a turn, so there are three triangular-shaped stairs in each staircase. I was worried about what they would do in the corner, but it looked really great! I was undecided about how much space I wanted on each side of the runners, so they kept checking back with me to verify 4" or 5". (I settled on 4", but now I wish I had gone with 5" because 4" is a little narrow for my vacuum cleaner head and that's kind of a pain, but that's not the carpet people's fault...)
The workers were very polite, etc, and they cleaned up pretty well. It's been 16 months now and I'm still really happy with the quality of the rug and the quality of the installation. I vacuum a lot and we have a dog, so the carpet gets quite a bit of wear. I really have no complaints!
Oh, one minor thing: their showroom is kinda hard to find, but with GPS it was OK.
Oh, and I received a follow-up call the next day from Matt, to make sure I was happy.
I could have gotten cheaper carpet from a home improvement chain or discount store, but given the hours of experienced labor that fitting a curved stair requires regardless of carpet quality, it didn't make sense to go bargain basement. Hopefully this will outlast me, and I was able to realize some cost savings by using a remnant for part of what I needed.
