My name is Jay Scannell and I enjoy cleaning and making things spotless. My mother always made sure our house was clean as I was growing up and naturally I have liked to follow those similar footsteps and take it that one step further. I’d enjoy cleaning for you and your family if need be and I am open to anything you throw at me:).

"We own a home-based business which relies heavily on our computers operating efficiently. We have had a service contract with another computer repair business for several years. Recently when we were having problems with our computers, we tried contacting our service contractor multiple times. He never responded. Feeling frustrated, I contacted James at North Alabama Technical Services and explained our situation. He instantly came to our rescue. He "cleaned-up" our computers and took care of all the problems we were experiencing. He went above and beyond to help us in our dire time of need. We would strongly recommend James and his company for computer service needs. We have now retained him on a service contract and are looking forward to working with him in the future."

"Great company to work with. They were very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining everything. My only complaint is there was a very small communication error in regards to installing a new emergency shut off switch. (The owner in a phone call said they would because old furnace was on fuses, but the installers were not aware). The moment I brought this up though they said not an issue and did it right away which I am grateful for so still giving 5 stars because there was absolutely no hesitation to do it. The installers were very kind and considerate. They put down fabric so they didn't track any dirt or rust from the old furnace, and they cleaned up after themselves in the basement very well, they swept and sprayed down everything they could in the area they worked in. Price was also very competitive I checked with a total of 4 HVAC businesses. These guys came in second, but the lowest one was so ridiculously low compared to others that I didn't trust the workmanship and quality so I went with the second lowest (Peak Mechanical). No complaints here!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

During the summer, it’s best to set your AC to 78 degrees when you’re home and awake, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). For better energy efficiency, raise the temperature slightly to 85 degrees while you’re out of the house. The National Sleep Foundation advises lowering your thermostat to between 60 and 67 degrees when you’re asleep.

Signs that your A/C system needs professional service include increased energy bills, uneven or poor cooling, loud or unusual noises, and frequent cycling.

Most AC repair technicians will take between two and six hours to carry out repairs, depending on the work needed and the accessibility of the unit. For example, recharging refrigerant lines should take one to two hours to service, while replacing a compressor, blower fan, or other major components can take five to eight hours. You can ask your AC repair technician how long they expect the job to take, but just in case, you should plan on being home and available for most of the day.

Yes, it’s best to turn off an AC unit that’s blowing hot air to prevent system damage and avoid expensive energy bills. If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.

The standard rule for return duct sizing is that the return vent should be the same size or larger than the supply vent. This will ensure balanced airflow in your home and reduce strain on your HVAC system.
