Robert Rathbone Handyman Services 215N Cabot VT 802-522-6255 As of 7/31, I am closing to move, as I have sold my house, and I have a lot of work ahead of me. . Please call for services offered...I cannot change the list! Central Vermont's Premier Handyman Services Provider with over 35 years of experience in ALL aspects of building care and repair; both residential and commercial. A high quality job is visible, satisfying and lasting. It usually is not much more to do than 'splash and dash'. I have 5yrs receiving Angi's Super Service Award for Quality and Excellence, with 5yrs of perfect reviews. They aren't participation awards, and I'm proud to represent Angi. I have a 5 point philosophy of connecting with my clients. I call it: 'HITCH': -Honesty- Always be straight. -Integrity- Don't compromise on quality. -Transparency-Be clear on everything. -Communication- Means no surprises -Heart- Love the client. I would not be here without you. I encourage my clients to ask questions...I'll never talk down to you if you ask a question, as you deserve to know. If you see something you don't like with the job, please bring it to my attention immediately. I cannot correct what I don't know. It's not fair to either of us to have me finish something that you don't like or want... especially if you could have averted the problem earlier by simply asking "what the heck?" I don't mark up on materials. My job is install em, not sell em, but I am on the clock,at my lowest rate, to get them. My rates are:45$/hr for general work, 65 for technical work like plumbing/electrical/propane, and 85 for sewer line work, because nobody likes playing in poo. I don't mark up on materials. I am on the clock to get them, though. I have a 2hr minimum, in lieu of a service charge, so make a list! I have discounts for Veterans and Seniors.

"Robert fixed my dryer, which was not working correctly on and off over the last few months. He identified the issue quickly and got the job done in one visit. Hard work, done well."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You should plan to change your AC unit's filter every one to three months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. You should also clean the coils at least once per year, but if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies, you might need to clean them more often. Fortunately, many pros will clean the coils and change the filter for you during an inspection, which you should schedule once or twice per year.

While all portable AC units will collect moisture as part of their cooling and dehumidifying process, whether and how often you need to drain them depends on what kind of unit you have and the natural humidity levels where you live. For example, if you live in a very dry area and have a self-evaporating unit, you may not need to drain your portable AC very often at all. Some units may automatically drain collected moisture out the window through their exhaust vent.

Your AC might not cool after a power outage because of a tripped circuit breaker, blown fuse, or damage to the compressor or capacitor. If you notice your AC not working after a power outage, in most cases, the breaker has tripped or the system has built-in brownout and blackout protection. Reboot the AC by turning it off at the thermostat, resetting the circuit breaker, and waiting 30 minutes to turn the AC on again.

The general rule of thumb for figuring out how much AC tonnage you need in your home is that for every 500 to 600 square feet of space you need to cool, you’ll need one ton of AC cooling power. So, a 1,000-square-foot home will need 2 tons of AC power.

Yes, ductless AC adds value to your home. Fixing or replacing traditional ductwork is an incredibly expensive and daunting prospect. Traditional ducts can be noisy and temperamental, with the potential for unwanted guests like hornets and rodents. Ductless mini-splits eliminate a major hassle and expense, so they can increase a home's value.
