"Very professional and respectful. Listened to my concerns. Work completed was well done and completed in a timely way. Original project was to install support beams in the basement, but then he also made time to do an additional unplanned project- rebuilding an upstairs wall."

"Jason did an excellent job shoring up our basement. He was a professional with an excellent work ethic. His work was exactly as explained, neat and clean. Jason was respectful of our space. He offered suggestions to improve gutters to direct water away from the house And he is dog friendly I would highly recommend Jason Blanchard."

"Jack returned my phone call in a very timely manner. Jack showed up when he said he would. He let me know at the end of each day where we were and what the plan was for the next day. My furnace had died, and all of the pipes inside my mobile home had frozen. I had tried for 4 weeks to get a plumber to come out. Jack did not hesitate. He did a good job, and I would recommend him for plumbing and additions, and he got a really good quote on the roof too."

"TJL Construction remodeled our bathroom: took out old tub and vanity and installed new plumbing, shower, sink, light and other fixtures, ceiling, flooring, and painted. Matt Swan was great to work with. He provided a detailed estimate and stuck to it. Work was done on schedule, all materials were cleaned up and cleared away. I would highly recommend their work."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

The average cost of remodeling a basement is $30 to $75 per square foot. If your space is unfinished and looks like it may need more help, use the higher number when calculating your estimated basement remodeling costs. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional 20% to the top of your estimate to cover any “what if” situations.

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

Walkout basements are not generally included in a home’s square footage, although they may be if they meet certain conditions that depend on local regulations. A finished walkout basement used as a living space may be counted toward square footage in some locations as long as all codes for livable space are met.

Whether it’s more affordable to gut a house than build a new one depends on the markets where you'd be buying and selling. However, it’s usually less expensive to renovate a home than to build new construction.

Most homeowners pay between $100,000 and $200,000 for demolition and remodeling costs, whereas the average cost to build a new home is between $139,000 and $531,300.

You can paint your ceiling or install a drywall ceiling if the ceiling is unfinished, as they take up less headroom than drop ceilings.

If there are pipes in the way of ceiling installation, you can do one of two things: reroute the pipes or adjust the installation to fit, which will cost extra.
