"Alex from Lux, gave me very helpful advice and he concluded that his company’s services were not warented. Trustworthy, honest advice, and he answered all my questions thoroughly with visual and verbal explaination. Lux is a company I would recommend and use in the future. In my personal opinion, Alex saved me $10-30k in waterproofing. He said that I did not have a moisture issue in my basement and he gave me 3 things I could do to make my basement environment safe and sound for the future. A different contractor came in and gave me a free estimate to put a sump pump in for $7k and then I’d need to finish my basement for an estimate of $20k. Alex from Lux, said I had a dry foundation and that my mold on my vinyl was likely a cause from a leak years ago from my washer or my dishwasher a level above. I truly felt that Alex was truthful, helpful and Honest. Go with Lux if you seek an honest opinion and company."

"Very pleased with our concrete leveling solution—we now have a safe sidewalk for our entryway again. It matched Bobby’s estimate, and their team was able to fit this small job into their workload without much wait. Before Bryan R. performed the task, he professionally explained what was going to be accomplished, how the process works, and provided several suggested recommendations. Would refer them again."

"Good people to work with, professional in every way. Normally when we received 2" of rain water would start entering the basement. When we receive 3" the basement floor would be covered. Two days after installing their system our area received 8.5" of rain and our basement remained dry, not a drop got in the house. These guys know what they are doing."

"Richard was extremely patient in scheduling the work as there were only a few occasions when we could be without our driveway. He and his crew arrived punctually and he gave me an excellent overview of the process involved and (without pressure) described the advantages of different coatings. We settled on a commercial grade and it really turned out beautifully. I am extremely pleased and will use this company again when it is time to reseal.

"I received an estimate for the work the would have included, the remodeling of the main floor powder room, the building of a closet and the painting of the lower level.  The company estimate of  hours was 24.  I thought that was rather low and questioned, Jesus, the Manager, and he said, it was correct.  The estimate is for $60 an hour for each worker.  Although, both workers were pleasant. The building of the closet and the painting came to nearly 20 hours of work.
The closet, was not as professional as I would have liked. However, it is the storage of the unfinished section of the lower level.  As is was located in the storage room the completion did not have to be perfect.  The completed closet did not have a pole to hang the close or door knobs or handles on the closet, thought that was odd.  The $1975 was for the labor only for the painting and the installation of a closet.  I think overall they could have done a better job cleaning up.  The final bill was an over charge of hours and I called them to let them know and deducted the amount of money from the bill.   I work out of my home and therefore, was able to oversee when the workers arrived and left.
I will say that Marlena, the contact coordinator was very pleasant to work with.

"When we were looking at contractors for our project, we met five contractors and received five estimates.  There were a couple places where Suncrest really stood out.  First, they were the only contractor to provide a detailed estimate that allowed us to see how much each item would cost.  This made it easy for us to determine what things we could do ourselves and what was worth getting their help with.  Second, they were the only contractor to get ALL details of the project right in the estimate.  A lot of other contractors gave us estimates for items never discussed and failed to provide estimates for crucial items.  Third, when we did a walk through with John (Suncrest Builders President), we mentioned we wanted the renovated space to have hardwood floors.  Every other contractor said, "Yes, we can give you hardwood floors".  John was the only one to say, "Why do you want hardwood floors?  You have a concrete slab and hardwood floors wouldn't be the best choice."  We appreciated that he didn't just tell us what we wanted to hear, but instead provided solid advice.

Through out the project,  Suncrest hired three separate sub-contractors: demolition, concrete, and flooring.  All the subcontractors they used were very clean, efficient, hardworking and professional.  For the demo and concrete, there seemed to be a significant delay in getting the subcontractors to our house.  The demo crew showed up 4 days later than planned.  The concrete crew showed up 3-4 weeks after planned.  The first two tasks of our project were demo and concrete, so at the beginning there were a few weeks where our house was sitting with no work being done.

Suncrest performed the framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and trim installation with their own staff. Everyone was extremely skilled, detailed orientated, and respectful.  There weren't as many delays to the project when Suncrest's employees were scheduled to work on our house.  Any delays were due to the nature of the project and not because they didn't show up.

Through out the project, we had very little difficulty getting ahold of John or Bryan (our Project Manager).  If we didn't get ahold of them the first time, 95% of the time they returned our calls/emails within 24 hours.  This was more than enough communication to make sure we could have our questions answered and feel comfortable with how the project was progressing.

During our project, there were a couple areas where Suncrest really shined.  First, we redid the floors in our kitchen.  The original floors were tile.  The tile needed to be removed and all the grout and tile adhesive had to be removed.  Due to the unexpected difficulty of removing larger pieces of grout, the tile removal took longer than expected, which meant the new floor installation was also delayed.  After Suncrest realized how difficult the tile was to remove, they had everyone at our house making sure EVERYTHING was ready so the flooring installation wasn't delayed any further.  Bryan (Project Manager) was on his hands and knees scraping off the grout vigorously.  Second, we had Suncrest install a light fixture on our home's exterior.  After the first attempt, we were not satisfied with the way the light was installed.  We called Bryan to have him take a look.  He also agreed that it was not acceptable.  The same day, he was out there fixing the light himself until we were satisfied.  By the time he was done, it couldn't have looked more perfect.  In both of these situations, Suncrest showed they will do what it takes to get the job done and will listen to feedback to make sure the end result is perfect for their client.

Overall, our experience with Suncrest was excellent.  We had little difficulty in getting ahold of them when we had questions.  They addressed any concerns we had.  The end product was exactly what we asked for and looks amazing.  There were some delays, but if you look at reviews for other contractors on Angie's List, you'll see that it's incredibly common.  After this experience, I look forward to working with Suncrest again on our future home renovations.

"Our experience with Green Earth Landscaping was OK, but not great. Once we nailed down the contract (which took a long time and many emails, so I thank them for their patience) the communication from the company was pretty poor. We didn't really know when the crew would be showing up. Luckily my husband works from home, so this wasn't a huge problem for us. Still, it would have been nice to hear from them. We had some rain, which caused some delays, too. I had to keep contacting them to see if the crew would be coming. They never initiated contact to let us know what to expect.
Once the job  started, the crew did good work, but we only saw the foreman on the first day. After that, the crew didn't really seem to be able to answer our questions, and we didn't have much luck getting in touch with the owner/designer, so felt like we were in the dark. Luckily, we didn't have many concerns about the work itself, so we let it go.
There was a bad experience involving the removal of a large stump in our front yard. There was a miscommunication about whether it was included in the scope of the work. Once discovered, they quickly agreed to remove it, but tried to dig it out instead of grind it. They were unsuccessful and made a huge mess of the front yard trying to dig it out. The designer warned us via email that the yard was a mess, which was nice, but that was the last we heard from them for a full week. Apparently, they decided they would need to call in a subcontractor to finish the work in the yard, but nobody told us this was the plan. Again, the lack of communication was a big problem. We voiced our displeasure with the situation and, to their credit, they offered to sod the front lawn to make up for it. This was a nice gesture and the sod seems to be doing OK, so I thank them for that. Overall though, we didn't have a good experience and wouldn't use this company again or recommend them to others."

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

Pros often use mudjacking or polyurethane foam injection to level a sunken concrete patio. Both methods lift the slab by filling voids beneath it. After properly compacting the soil beneath it to prevent future settling, the concrete may need to be removed and re-poured for severe sinking.

Yes, you can mudjack cracked concrete, but the cracks will need to be repaired once the concrete has been leveled. If the concrete is severely cracked in multiple places, replacement may be a better option, but for less severe cracking, mudjacking is a good solution as long as cracks are correctly caulked and sealed.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The total drying time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it needs to harden fully to prevent the concrete slab from shifting under added weight. You should avoid walking on the concrete or placing heavy items like furniture or vehicles on the surface until it has fully set. Your concrete contractor can provide a precise timeline. As a point of comparison, if you opt for polyjacking, the polyurethane foam can dry in minutes, but it's recommended to wait about an hour before use.

It restores concrete, prevents replacement cost disruptions, reduces trip hazards, and provides stability at a lower cost.

On average, a mudjacking repair lasts between five and 10 years, though it can sometimes last for well beyond a decade under ideal conditions. Its longevity depends heavily on several factors, including the condition of the underlying soil, environmental conditions like freeze/thaw cycles and erosion, and whether the root cause of the sinking, such as drainage issues, is resolved. Because it doesn't always fix the underlying problem of loose soil, mudjacking is often considered a temporary solution. Proper maintenance and evaluation can help extend its lifespan.
