The owner's father owns/owned his own janitorial business, and is now looking to retire. Not wanting to steal my father's name, business, and his outright legacy in what he has created, I wanted to start my own business, under my own name, and gain the same respect my father has with his time in the industry. R.A.M. Lawn Care, LLC is licensed, insured, and bonded. This small business takes pride in the work and seeing that the client is taken care of on all fronts. The owner believes in being upfront and honest, but also being very personable and open to all questions and suggestions. I pray my hard work makes your day easier. Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Colored mulch can be bad for plants in that it robs them of nitrogen as it depletes the soil to break itself down. With this in mind, it’s a good idea to test your soil to check the nitrogen levels. If the nitrogen levels are low, use fertilizer with extra nitrogen or switch to regular mulch.

Another downside of colored mulch is if it’s heavily contaminated, it can contaminate the soil and damage your plants. To avoid this, look for the MSC certification logo on the mulch bag before purchasing.

Pea gravel comes in a variety of colors, including cream, white, black, gray, and brown being some of the most popular choices for homeowners. You can also find red, yellow, green, and even multicolor options for your landscaping needs. The price of pea gravel is about $350 for the typical home improvement project.

Most experts recommend a quarter-inch layer of compost for best results, and you will need about .77 cubic yards of material per 1,000 square feet. To measure how much compost to use, take the square footage of your yard and multiply it by .77, then divide that number by 1,000.

The time that it takes to fill in a pool with dirt varies based on the size of the pool and the equipment you have available. Using heavy equipment, like an excavator rather than a shovel, will significantly cut down on the time it takes to complete the project. With the right equipment, it may only take a day or two. However, after the initial filling, the dirt will continue to settle over the following weeks and months. You may need to add more dirt to make the empty area level with the rest of the yard.

Using sand under stepping stones can be beneficial in certain situations. Sand can help level the ground and provide stability for the stepping stones, especially if the ground is uneven. It also allows for minor adjustments during the installation process. However, sand may not be the best choice for all environments. In areas with high foot traffic or heavy rain, sand may wash away or become displaced, leading to an uneven surface. In such cases, a more stable base material like gravel or crushed stone is preferable. Consider your specific landscape conditions before deciding whether to use sand under stepping stones.
