"Castello and Billy did a great job sealcoating my Asphalt driveway. It was 5+ years since I had seal coated. There were big and small cracks. Castello used gravel and tar mixture to fill big cracks and melted rubber for the smaller cracks. He filled the cracks thoroughly while billy put sand on top, so the rubber wouldn't stick to the vehicle and come out. I was very happy with their work and the rate seemed very reasonable."

"Marvin was very personal and professional explaining the process and the reason for the various conditions of the asphalt. He repaired numerous cracks in the driveway and applied the sealer on the driveway in smooth manner. The finished appearance is great. I would highly recommend Marvin for driveway sealing."

"Excellent company who stands by the quality of their work. Exceeded my expectations. Unforcasted rain removed a small portion of my newly seal coated driveway. DD Asphalt Services came back and recoated the entire driveway so that I would have a perfect color match. I have already scheduled a recoat for next summer. I highly recommend this company."

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

In general, crack fillers last for about two years on average. That timeline can be shorter if you have extremely harsh winters or longer if you live in a mild climate. Luckily, this product is pretty affordable at the hardware store (about $10 to $30) and easy to DIY, so redoing it every few years shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.

There are more pros than cons, but there are a few disadvantages to sealing your driveway to be aware of. Sealant can make the surface slippery, which can be a hazard, especially when the driveway gets wet. Look for sealants with abrasive additives to help counteract this. You’ll also need to remember to reapply your sealant every two years and budget for the expense that comes with it.

You should plan on sealing your driveway about once every five years, although you should plan to do it once every three years if your area experiences frequent rain or snow. Sealing your driveway protects it from moisture, UV rays, and chemicals from your car, like motor oil and antifreeze. If you find that your driveway stains easily or appears to be cracking or fading, you may want to schedule a sealing service regardless of when you last sealed it.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.

Chip seal roads and driveways are slightly more expensive than gravel, but significantly more affordable than traditional asphalt. Chip seal works wonders when used as a top coat. Its lighter color is less heat-absorbant than black asphalt. It also renews your aging, deteriorating asphalt without having to spend on major repairs or redoing the entire driveway.
