"Troy worked with us and our two neighbors to provide a good price for installation of a patio and sealing of two patios. We did not have to wait weeks or months for them to begin work and we have exactly what we asked for. We requested a stamped concrete patio that looked like brick, and it looks better than expected. Troy is very responsive to any requests or issues. We are very pleased with patio and the value for money."

"We returned from out of town to discover that one of the coils on the garage door had snapped. I called Stoneberger on Monday morning. They were able to come to my home and fix the coil later that afternoon. The service gentleman was prompt and finished within 30 minutes. It was great!"

"Project turned out excellent. Troy started by producing a detailed design drawing, allowing me to quickly gain approval from my HOA for the modifications. He then began work, identifying areas where previous builders of my deck had cut corners. Troy was able to remediate these issues as part of the project (installing missing flashing between the deck and the house, adding footers). He made several suggestions along the way to ensure excellence in the finished product. He has high standards in his craftsmanship, and it shows."

"Travis and Chris were great.  On time, professional, and quality work.
They did a variety of jobs that all required getting on a ladder.  It was a very hot/humid day and they did the work with a smile.  They installed an attic fan, some lights, and cleaned my gutters.  Although Travis is very experienced, he was not ?above? cleaning leaves out of a gutter.  I have already referred them to others.  He has fair pricing and excellent communication skills.  Thanks!

"Over the years we've hired many handymen/contractors and Steve is right up there as one of the best. He was responsive and very professional in every way. His helper too. Of the three we interviewed for this last project he was also best priced on most items. We needed exterior house cleaning; a new maintenance free hand rail at the front porch, new trim around windows and also chimney wrapping, etc. All projects were done perfectly and as promised. We finally found someone we can rely upon and are thrilled. And Steve's a very nice guy too!"

Garages FAQs, answered by experts

The best method for painting a garage door depends on the door's design and the finish you want to achieve. For the most professional-looking finish, especially on doors with panels or intricate details, a paint sprayer is an excellent choice. It can easily get into hard-to-reach places and provide a smooth, even coat.

If you don't have a sprayer, or if your door is flat, a combination of a roller and a brush is the most effective approach. Use a roller for the large, flat sections to cover the area quickly and efficiently. For the best results, experts recommend a roller with a nap between ⅜ and ¾ inches thick; natural fibers can also help ensure an even coat.

A brush is essential for handling the finer details. Use it to paint grooves, angles, small panels, and the edges of the door where you need more control.

Regardless of the tools you use, it's a good idea to step back after the main application to review your work and use a detail brush to touch up any missed spots.

Installing weather stripping or upgrading to insulated panels can improve efficiency.

While it depends on door condition, the painter’s level of expertise, and weather conditions, it’s safe to set aside two to three days to complete this project, especially if you anticipate adding multiple coats of paint, which can take eight to 12 hours to dry. Your professional should be able to provide an estimate for the project timeline.

It is possible for a car to interfere with a garage door opener, but the interference will most likely be caused by any onboard electronics in this scenario. If you encounter this problem, try parking a safe distance away from the garage door and turn off the car’s electronic equipment.

On average, a garage door can last between 15 and 30 years. However, this lifespan is influenced by several factors, including the quality and material of the door, local climate conditions, and how frequently it is used and maintained.

Key factors affecting longevity include:

  • Material: Wooden doors can last 20 to 30 years or more, while steel doors typically last 15 to 20 years. More robust options, like triple-layer steel, can last 25 to 30 years with proper care. The number of layers in a door also contributes to its durability, with each additional layer potentially adding five years to its life.

  • Maintenance: Regular inspections, cleaning, and immediate repairs can significantly extend the life of your garage door.

  • Usage and Climate: Doors in harsh climates or those used very frequently may wear out faster.

  • Components: Individual parts have different lifespans. For example, automatic openers may fail sooner than the door itself without regular maintenance, and garage door springs typically need replacement every 7 to 12 years.

While the door panels are designed to last as long as the door, they should be replaced sooner if they become visibly damaged, impact the door's smooth operation, or create a security risk.
