"Jonathan Bales is one of the nicest, most accommodating workers we've ever hired. He listened to what we wanted and asked questions to make sure he understood. He was on time and worked till the job was finished, not just done, but done well, to his own high standards. The job was to paint the inside and outside of our french-style front door. There were several layers of paint to sand off before applying the new paint. The doors also had a few spots that needed repairs. He did the whole job on 2 day's time. The color is a beautiful shade of dark blue, and it is beautiful. We were very happy with his work, and especially with his prices."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

Yes, energy-efficient options such as LEDs and solar-powered lights are available. These alternatives consume less electricity, resulting in lower utility costs. They are also more environmentally friendly due to their reduced carbon footprint and longer lifespan.

Cold weather can cause older incandescent Christmas lights to fail by causing cracks in the finish or the glass itself. Modern LED lights are affected in the opposite way and perform even better as the temperature drops.

Ensure you have a safe environment for them to work on, and there aren’t items such as logs, build-up of yard materials, missing or damaged shingles, and weak areas on the roof. Communicate any known electrical issues with contractors at the beginning of the project, and consider hiring an electrician to fix those. Finally, if you are attempting the project yourself, do so when there isn’t any rain, and you can safely get your footing on the roof using proper equipment, such as an extension ladder. Don’t attempt this alone, and have a helper nearby to assist.

String LED lights are the best lights to use on a palm tree, as they’re long-lasting, energy-efficient, and won’t go out if a single bulb stops working.

Yes, you can hang Christmas lights from the soffit of your roof, but it requires a bit more effort than hanging from the gutters or eaves. You’ll need to add an adhesive hook or tie to the underside of the soffit to keep the lights in place. Consider adding a soffit hook every 12 to 18 inches for best visual results.
