Dowdy Home Innovations is a family owned and operated company. We take great pride in our customers, their input and/or suggestions are always welcome and appreciated. All of our employess and sub-contractors are all hand picked for there quality and craftmanship. We offer senior and church discounts.

"He charged me over 1 thousand dollars to install a custom door that cost him about 3 or 4 hundred. He also installed an outdoor hose mount that may have cost him about $40 in materials. The job was priced as the above work plus half a house being sided in vinyl. He installed the door and charged me over a thousand dollars. I paid because I thought that was coming off of the total cost of the job. He took my check and never responded back to me. I finally used a another company to finish the job. That door install should have cost about $200 over the cost of the door. He charged me about $700. Avoid this guy. Plus when he left and went and bought a door knob. The door and jam did not line up....I had to drill out the jam more so the bolt would enter the jam."

Sunrooms and Patios questions, answered by experts

Screened-in porches add value to your home, and you can expect an ROI of up to 70% to 80% if you live in a moderate or warm climate. In colder areas, potential buyers won’t see as much value in the home addition since the unconditioned space will be unusable for much of the year. The quality and size of the screened-in porch will also affect the return you’ll see.

Even under the best of all circumstances, the maximum ROI on a pool is about 56%. There are other exterior home projects that you can do that are both less expensive to tackle and net a more significant ROI. These include:

If you want to hire a professional to build a screened-in porch, a local sunroom or porch contractor is your best bet. If you can't find a local sunroom builder, another option is to consider hiring a general contractor to perform the work.

If you're handy, you may consider building the porch yourself. Before you do so, make sure you understand the local permit requirements and building codes so that you don't have any problems with the safety or structure of the porch.

Generally speaking, yes, enclosing a patio to create a sunroom will add value to your home, as you’ll be increasing your square footage and adding utility to the space. The average ROI for enclosing a patio is around 70%, which is higher than many other home improvement projects. The value you get from creating a sunroom on your patio will depend on several factors, though, like the quality of the materials you choose, the extent to which the space is finished, your remaining yard space, and more.

If you have multiple rooms that could use some organization, home storage solutions like cubbies in your mudroom or built-in shelving can help you move clutter off the floor. Take it one step further by pairing shelves and cabinets with personalized aesthetic touches like woven or canvas lined metal baskets to add another organizational element.
