"This family owned business went out of their way to work with me on a Christmas tree lighting project! We are going to be on the Holiday Home Tour this year and they did outstanding work to make things work out for us. It was an additional surprise for my husband who is a police officer to see his 40 foot Thin Blue Line tree all done up in blue lights this year! We can't thank you enough for make it so special for him."

"I did have some issues with them. I directly called the company owner and got it straightened out. The company was fine. It was the technician that was not that great. They were pricey. They were responsive. Their punctuality was the big problem. I would rate the professionalism of the tech a C and not the company and the tech is representing the company. I would use them again, but I would not use the same tech. I would recommend that they do not send the same tech out."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

The length of time shouldn’t matter much if you stick with lightweight Christmas lights and similar decorations. Those shouldn’t pose risks to your stucco. You should avoid attaching anything to your stucco that could fall because it’s too heavy, which may take part of the stucco with it. Some methods, like using double-sided tape or adhesive hooks, will naturally wear out over time and lead to falling lights, so don’t expect to leave these lights up year-round.

Between seasons, inspect cords for damage, replace burnt-out bulbs, and clean lighting fixtures to prevent dirt buildup. Proper storage in cool, dry conditions will extend the lights' lifespan and minimize repairs or replacements when redeployed.

Good news, Christmas lovers: you can keep your lights up all year, provided you choose the type. It's critical that you choose holiday lights made for outdoor use, as these can withstand winter weather conditions. In addition, it's best to use LED lights instead of incandescent ones. LED bulbs can withstand temperature shifts and are energy efficient.

If you are considering leaving your holiday lights up year-round, ask your lighting installer about permanent installation. This project costs around $3,500 but gives you about six to 10 years of LED lights and adds a pleasing aesthetic to your home.

Professionals use the same methods found in this guide unless they’re decorating a particularly large Christmas tree. In that case, they may also make use of tools like extension poles to get the job done.

There aren’t many alternative methods to hanging Christmas lights on fascia without using clips. But if you don’t have fascia clips to hang your Christmas lights, you can use clothespins in a pinch. To do this, hold the strand of lights in place and clip it in place with the clothespin. Using nails or staples is never a good idea, as they can damage your fascia.
