"This was my first time using Quiroga Home Services. They performed drywall repair and painting, as well as some minor electrical work and replaced an exhaust fan. Great customer service and very happy with the results! Nelson and team did a wonderful job. I would hire Quiroga again and highly recommend without reservation!"

"I cannot recommend Brett and his crew highly enough. Our tub kept arriving from Home Depot damaged, but they kept coming back, working with us to get it installed - until we ordered from Wayfair! They did the removal of the old tub, install new, fixed the tile, installed fan boxes, fixed a squeaky floor, and sorted garage ceiling. They were wonderful and will definitely be our go to in the future! Thank you so much!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

The best types of tiles for a shower are ceramic and porcelain tiles. These materials are durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, making them ideal for wet environments. Porcelain tiles are slightly more durable than ceramic. Both options come in a wide variety of styles, so you can achieve the perfect look for your bathroom.

Ceramic tile can be slightly less expensive than porcelain pavers. You can find outdoor ceramic tile for as little as $1 per square foot, but high-end options tend to cost the same as porcelain.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.
