"I painted 90% of our 2800sqft house myself when we first moved in. I have a few years of experience doing both interior and exterior painting back in college and I can do a pretty good job but don't have all of the proper equipment for some things, plus, I have to consider how much I value my personal time. That's what brought me to hiring a painter to finish off the interior.. after 4 year :) I could have done the crowne moulding myself but the open 3rd floor stairwell and large picture window were just too high and difficult to get to. I decided to just pay a professional. I'll preface this by saying that I'm very particular and pay attention to details. Overall they did an acceptable job but there were a few things that could gave been better. First, they were punctual, polite, and professional - absolutely no issues there. They laid down drop cloths but I still ended up with a few drips and small speckles here and there as well as some smudges of caulking on the hardwood floor from prepping the crowne mouldings. My only significant complaint is that they didn't tape off the crowne moulding so there isn't a nice sharp line between the white woodwork and the darker walls. They brought rolls of tape but never used it. So while the finished product isn't sloppy, it could be better. Prep work makes a big difference in the outcome and I've taped off and painted all of the baseboard, windows, and door casings in the house with nice sharp lines. A couple other relatively minor things, 1) although they had rolls of plastic they didn't use it to cover any of the curtains they were working over. I initially asked if the needed me to remove the curtains and they said no, they would just hang plastic over them. Ultimately I don't really care either way so long as the are careful and don't drop or splatter but I don't see why they would take that risk. Last little thing is that they left a bunch of dried paint scraps in the stones at the side of my driveway from cleaning out their cans - no damage or anything but something I shouldn't have to clean up. I rated the price a "B" because it seemed a little expensive for the amount of work but it ended up taking them over 8 hours for 2 painter's and a helper. I just expected it to be more like a 4-6hr job. Still, if the quality had been top notch (i.e. nice crisp lines on the crowne mouldings, no additional clean up for me to do) I would have considered it well worth $1100 and given them an "A" for price. So overall I'm mostly satisfied, although there was room for improvement. I would probably hire them again but I would be more specific with my expectations."

"We just had our office floors replaced by Artistic Floors. Best experience with a contractor EVER. Owner showed up on time for our meeting to get a quote.Materials came in on time. Staff showed up promptly the day of install. They finished in exactly the amount of time they said they would. They were courteous and clean throughout install and cleaned the entire front walk, driveway and path throughout house that they used to get to the room. There were parts of the install (pieces of baseboard) that couldn’t be finished because of a large built in we we were waiting on. "I initially contacted Tommy through the Angie's List website, and he called me promptly to set up an appointment to visit my home and review the work I wanted done. He then followed up with an email giving me a quote for the work. Since I felt the quoted price was reasonable and he had such good reviews, we scheduled the work for the next week. I became ill later that week, and Tommy worked with me to reschedule. On the first work day, Tommy and his assistant, Lou, arrived as scheduled at 9:00 a.m. and immediately began covering furniture with clean plastic, tenting kitchen cabinets, covering floors with drop cloths, and taping woodwork. Smaller items, such as dining room chairs, were even moved into the garage. Although I offered them lunch, both said that they preferred to work straight through the day. Since I still was not feeling well, I ended up going into a bedroom to lie down and ended up falling asleep. When I awoke at 5:30, they had left, but not before removing all plastic and drop cloths, replacing the furniture, and sweeping the floor. The second day went much as the first, except that I changed my mind about the color for one of the rooms, and Tommy made a special trip to the paint store to get the new paint. The bedroom, bathroom, and den were completed that day, the plaster in the garage was repaired, and Tommy installed the under-cabinet lighting (not normally one of their services but done as a special favor since I had no one else to do it). My house was left in perfect order when they finished, and they even borrowed my vacuum to make sure that the floors were left clean. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Always Painting by Tommy. Not only is the quality of their work outstanding, but I felt that their prices were fair. They were prompt and reliable and provided good follow through when minor issues arose. Both Tommy and Lou are gentlemen who conduct themselves professionally, take obvious pride in their work, and go out of their way to try to please the customer. I have already had them back for another smaller painting job and would not hesitate to recommend them to others who might need their services. In fact, a family member who is renovating a house will be calling them for a quotation when they are ready to paint this spring.

"Mike spent approximately three months in our house helping to remodel a total of four rooms. He performed many different types of jobs, including demolition, plumbing, carpentry, final painting and cabinet installation. Everything he did, he did with care and with pride in his work. When we needed help making decisions on colors, types of tile, design, etc, Mike was always honest and he provided thoughtful advice which turned out to be right on the mark. Mike's forte is his ceramic work. He's a true artist. He designed our walk-in shower and made it the most beautiful one of its type I've ever seen. He also worked through several problems inherent with our old house to give us gorgeous tile floors. Mike is not only a talented and hard-working craftsman. He's a good person who cares about his clients. Once when he came by late to pick up a tool he had left behind, we told him about a plumbing problem that one of the other workers had caused.
