"They told me that they could fix it on the same day I called by going to their office on 2110 Spencer Road. They initially told me that the price would be $93.69, having made the assumption that the job would only take an hour. It ended up taking close to three hours. They explained to me how Honda made their locks differently from other car makers, leading to trouble with locks in a lot of Honda vehicles. They get a lot of business from Honda owners. They were very interested in getting my lock to work properly and were not satisfied when the key encountered a little "catch" in going into the lock. After replacing parts of the lock and still not getting it exactly right, they finally made another car key. This finally worked. They told me that they normally charge $80 an hour, but since they had quoted a price of $93.69, that would be the final charge. I told them that I could pay more for their time, but they turned down my offer."

"Walter and Glen at Protect Your Home Group with ADT are the best people to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

"Equipment is Self-Installation, which is fine, but the equipment is not very good quality and requiring constant care. Keypad/interface with the main system is not intuitive at all.

"I communicated with Rob Calbo for services of a background check with CSI Secure Solutions and he was fantastic.
He spoke with me in a very professional manner and put me at ease right away.
The process was seamless and my request was delivered very efficiently. Within just a few hours of providing them with information, I was able to get feedback. Rob took the time to speak with me and answered all of my questions.
I will definitely be using them again in the future should the need arise, and I would definitely recommend them as being very efficient, professional and reliable.

"I have used Murphy in the past. Their electrician for a day deal is terrific. Mike was on time, polite, professional, knew his stuff, worked hard and cleaned up afterwards. Scheduling him online was a breeze and I highly recommend this company."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

In general, keyless door locks are considered safe, and their security depends on the type and quality of the lock. They cannot be picked like a traditional lock and often include added features like biometric access, PIN codes, and smartphone connectivity, which can make them more secure. However, they are not without risks. Potential vulnerabilities include hacking for Wi-Fi-connected models, battery failure, power outages, and technical malfunctions. To maximize security, it is important to choose a reliable brand, stay on top of software updates, and perform regular maintenance. While the risks are different, keyless locks are not considered more dangerous than traditional locks.

It could be difficult to get in and out of a lock for several reasons, such as the keyhole needing additional lubrication. Particles, debris, and dirt can also get into a lock, making a key stuck (the lubrication can help with the removal).

Yes, keyless locks can deter burglars, mostly because they boost security and offer advanced features. Most models allow for unique codes or temporary access, making it harder for intruders to break in. Many of these smart locks even alert you if someone tries to tamper with them. However, you need to remember that while they provide an added layer of protection, no lock is completely foolproof. Pairing these locks with good security habits—like proper lighting and surveillance cameras—creates a strong defense to help stop intruders in their tracks.

Yes, you should change the locks as soon as you can after completing the purchase of a house. This is a matter of privacy and security, as you have no idea how many copies of the keys the previous owner made. You can change the locks yourself or hire a pro to replace or rekey the lock, which costs $50 to $100.

Door locks should be changed roughly every seven years. The average lifespan of a door lock is seven to 10 years, so it’s best to err on the side of caution and change them early, especially if they are showing signs of wear and tear. Examples of deterioration include visible rust and difficulty opening or closing the door. Some locks can work safely beyond 10 years, but it depends on how often they are used and whether they are exposed to damaging environmental conditions like precipitation or extreme temperatures.
