"It went extremely well. The movers took extra precautions to make sure none of our high-end furniture was damaged and made sure that everything was to our liking. At the end they wanted us to walk through and make sure that everything got done and that we didn’t forget anything so all in all it was probably one of the best moving experiences I’ve ever had!"

"I was about to have an ulcer in planning my long distance move (Washington DC to Milwaukee)...I must have called 5 different moving companies and researched way more than that, but TMM was the only company I spoke to that combined an affordable quote (well, as "affordable" as a move of this distance can be!) with a professionalism that put me at ease. I decided to go for it, and could not be happier with my decision. The care the movers took in wrapping my furniture in blankets and plastic wrap before removing it from my apartment bordered on obsessive (which I was more than ok with!). The movers were efficient, professional, and pleasant people. My things arrived in Milwaukee exactly on time and there were no surprises with the price. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone and would use them again without question if I ever move back to the DC area."

Garbage Removal questions, answered by experts

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

If your garbage disposal powers up and you can hear it hum, but the arms inside aren’t moving, the problem might be a stubborn clog, a build-up of grease, or a jam of the impeller plate. To troubleshoot these, ensure your unit is off and disconnected from its power source before checking inside the drain or attempting to manually rotate the impeller arms or plate from the underside of the unit. A hex wrench can help.

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.
