Small jobs welcome

"I hate being condescended to. Listen to what I want and then give suggestions on how I might be able to work that out in my kitchen. Don't just tell me it can't be done. I felt like I was wasting my time. I asked about a particular type of closet (not realizing it was part of a bigger cabinet...how would I know) and she told me to follow her (using her finger to me like a child) and said I couldn't have it because it was as part of a bigger piece. She could have just said that. I said if I can't make my kitchen more "usable" (less wasted space), WHY to with custom cabinets. I could just reface. The woman behind me who was waiting to ask her a question said. Listen, if you can't get what you want, I don't blame you for not spending the money. It's easy to reface. So, I called another company and, low and behold, I'm getting partial refacing and partial custom cabinets. He came and we discussed HOW I could get my carousel cabinet (uh - he suggested I go from a double to a single sink - easy peasy) AND, he came in at half the price your website suggested I might pay. It is really nice to be listened to...especially when it's MY money I'm spending."

"Ray, was contracted after the "First Contractor" was paid and left our home a mess with hanging live wires, no smoke detectors, missing toilet, walk in closet disassembled, and the list goes on.....Ray arrived the next day after contacting me. Agreed to a quote from Angie's list. Installed toilet, dishwasher, kitchen faucet, resembled closets, hung doors, and installed smoke detectors. All in one day!!!!!! Ray's my go-to GUY forever. Kind , courteous, proficient, and professional..... I strongly recommend Ray, for all your handyman projects!!!! Anthony Ewing Woodstock Virginia"

"Mr Delgado has a natural instinct for restoring furniture to its optimal appearance. He is an artist. He repaired a pair of huanghwali northern hat chairs for me, and then I sent them to auction and they made $25k. He has restored a series of other pieces of furniture for me, and I don't believe it would have been possible to do better. He restored a Renaissance revival server for me, and I gave him its mate in gratitude. He picks up and delivers, all with an old-world charm that you no longer find in his business."

"I hired KitchenSaver to update my kitchen cabinets with new doors. I cannot comment on the price since their approach was they could give me good materials within whatever contract price I set. Never-the-less, the material was superior. The installation was completed in five days by a one-man crew (Simon Lawrence). I did not comparison shop this project, I am satisfied with the job and the price, however."

"DIY Kitchens did a great job remodeling my kitchen and building a mudroom for a good price and in a timely fashion. Whenever something came up during the process my concerns were quickly addressed and I loved the finished product. Very happy with my new kitchen and mudroom. Installed new white shaker cabinets, (very good quality for its price) black granite with leather finish, farmhouse sink, subway tile, plumbing, hardware and etc. Pasha was always and time and very responsive. I recommend DIY kitchens and I would hire them again. Will add photos later"

"We couldn't be happier with our kitchen cabinet refacing project! From start to finish, the entire experience exceeded our expectations, and the finished product is absolutely beautiful. Our technician, Edgar, was truly exceptional. He is an incredibly skilled craftsman whose attention to detail and pride in his work were evident every step of the way. Beyond his craftsmanship, Edgar was always professional, friendly, punctual, and respectful of our home. He took the time to ensure everything was done right and never cut corners. It's clear that he genuinely cares about the quality of his work and the satisfaction of his customers. The transformation of our kitchen is remarkable. The cabinets look brand new, the workmanship is outstanding, and the entire project was completed with precision and care. If you're considering cabinet refacing, I can't recommend this company highly enough—and if you're fortunate enough to have Edgar as your technician, you're in the best possible hands."

"Everything was outstanding--price, communication, punctuality, work quality, professionalism, cleanup, his personality, etc. Travis Graham was always on site and did much of the work himself. He had previously planted trees for us and fixed attic retractable stairs. He was always cheerful and enthusiastic despite performing grueling labor in hot humid weather.

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts

Cabinet refacing typically takes 2 to 5 days to complete. The exact duration depends on several factors, including the size of the kitchen or bathroom, the level of customization, and the complexity of the updates. For example, uniquely designed doors and drawer fronts may take longer to manufacture and install. While a professional can often complete the job within this timeframe, a DIY refacing project may take longer.

DIY refacing is possible if you're skilled in precise measurements, cutting, and finishing, but hiring professionals ensures a seamless finish and durable results.

How much cheaper it is to replace your cabinet doors depends on your needs. If you’re looking to spruce up the look and feel of your kitchen, then you can make cosmetic adjustments to your existing doors, like installing new knobs or a fresh coat of paint. Cabinets can be some of the most costly parts of a kitchen remodel, but if there’s structural damage regarding your doors, then replacing them is your best option.

If you're looking for ways to save money on custom cabinets, there are a few ways to cut costs without sacrificing beauty. For starters, comparing door styles to choose the most cost-effective option is a great way to save money on the overall project.

In addition, choosing a common wood species versus an exotic one will lower the price. Woods like oak and hickory are often more affordable wood choices, and the same goes for knobs, pulls, and other finishes where picking a commonly available style can reduce costs.

Common cabinet repair issues include loose or broken hinges, broken or warped doors, misaligned drawers, water damage, and scratches. Regular maintenance can help prevent some of these significant issues.
