"Despite their company name, Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps does clean gutters. Right now many gutter cleaning companies are booked through May and some into mid-June. My gutters overflowed in the last storm, rain is predicted for tomorrow, and I couldn’t get my regular gutter guys. So, I was very pleased that the woman, Catherine, who answered the phone really cared about my situation. She reached out to the technicians and fit my house into their schedule today. I usually pay $100-120 for one gutter cleaning. For same-day service I didn’t mind paying a bit more, $135. Catherine called me when I was the next house to be serviced. The technician, Denny, arrived promptly, was polite and efficient. My gutters are ready for the next storm. Yay!"

"I would give them more than five stars!. From the first call to the end of the service the staff was top notch . In another company that was recommended by you had a bait and switch. Along with the price for a routine cleaning in tiny print there was a $22 per month maintenance contract attached to the price. Why would I need a monthly maintenance for a gas fireplace Had I not had my magnifying glass. I would never have seen the bait and switch. You can check it out Again I highly recommend CONDE TECH Linda"

Small jobs welcome

"Highly recommend Dmitri! He performed a chimney cleaning, air vent cleaning, and dryer vent cleaning at my home and did an outstanding job. Dmitri was extremely courteous and took the time to explain everything thoroughly, making sure I understood the process and results. He worked with a level of care and attention to detail that you’d expect if it were his own home—truly a perfectionist. On top of that, he was able to schedule my services very quickly, which I really appreciated. Professional, knowledgeable, and efficient from start to finish. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Smoke smell and odors typically will not go away completely on their own, especially once the particles have penetrated porous materials like walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture. While airing out affected items can help the smell subside over time, it often lingers for months or even years. To effectively remove stubborn smoke odors, you should combine several methods. Start with a thorough deep cleaning and deodorizing using substances like baking soda or activated charcoal. Air purifiers can also help capture airborne particles. In severe cases, you may need to replace heavily damaged materials. If the smell persists after repeated treatments, consider hiring a professional smoke damage restoration company for assistance.

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

If untreated, smoke damage is definitely toxic. Carbon and tar are two types of toxic chemicals in smoke that can damage your lungs and other parts of your body if you breathe them in for long periods of time. If you still smell smoke after the fire, it’s important that you call your restoration team for support.

Hard materials like glass, metal, and hardwood floors, washable fabrics, and undamaged electrical appliances can often be salvaged after a fire, although it depends on the extent of the damage. For washable fabrics, make sure to use a phosphate mix during the washing process to extract the smoke smell. There are a few things you should throw away after a fire, like canned foods and cosmetics, even if they don’t look like they’re damaged.

Burning a single palm tree stump, if you’re careful, is technically doable DIY. However, you should always take precautions to control the fire and do research if you’re burning multiple types of trees.

Some trees, such as ornamental trees, black cherry, and some oak trees, release toxins into the air when burned that can be irritating to your lungs (or even dangerous) to breathe in.
